Really do applaud young people learning about Nazi IG Farben atrocities from the last century but really do wonder why young people emerging from college these days seem 'completely unaware' of the absolute carnage and terror of Communist genocides (and manufactured famines).

Obviously these lunatic regimes develop incrementally and censoring free speech and releasing violent criminals from prison (in order to jail 'political dissidents') is definitely a starting point - as is demonizing small land holders (particularly farmers).

Don't know if we are seeing the beginning stages of it now in England but history is positively littered with populations believing 'it couldn't happen here' so I guess we will see.

It might depend on where you reside. Here, after the fall of communism, children have been learning a lot about communist atrocities, including Holodomor. I think it's been like this in all the countries affected by communism and the Russian imperialism. The countries that don't have to deal with Russia as a hostile neighbor could be more indifferent to its crimes.

Also Russia was an ally in the war against the Nazis and that could also be a reason why Stalin's regime is treated more leniently than the Third Reich.

Thanks for the post Anna - would say a great many young folks in the West are absolutely clueless (through no fault of their own) about the horrors of this ideology and it's most definitely been 'scrubbed' from the school syllabus.

Did come across this article when searching online (also this one on teaching Holodomor alongside the Holocaust) but reckon most folks are completely unaware of it.

The first video on the thread goes into certain details and I couldn't believe that whilst everyone was 'locked down' starving to death Stalin was actually exporting grain overseas - also wasn't surprised to see Fabian whackjob George Bernard Shaw denying it.

Yes I agree mate and all should be given equal exposure in student education.

Unfortunately it's absolutely not and young people are blissfully unaware of some of the worst 'ideological' (and 'literal') crimes in human history.

Have been reading about Communist China's 'great leap forward' and it is mindblowingly horrific (40 million worked, starved or beaten to death) - you'd think it would be number one on the modern educational syllabus but it is nowhere to be found.

It's been called 'one of the worst catastrophes the world has ever known' but hilariously the Chinese government just calls it the 'Three Years of Difficulty'.

Don't know if you've ever delved into the subject but if you haven't there's some info below.

'The Pitesti Experiment' - absolutely inhuman brutal purges of 'non conformists' and insane state 're-education' through starvation and torture (both psychological and physical).

It's labelled 'one of the most terrifying and least known atrocities of the twentieth century' so guess my question is why are all these examples so 'unknown' and just who is it 'scrubbing' history when it comes to mainstream education of students?

Truly respect you mate and if everything evil was portrayed to students 'objectively' then fair enough.

Unfortunately it's not (why is that?) and the content of your post smacks of the 'head in the sand' approach which allows this kind of shit to pop up every three generations.

About 50 times all the deaths in WWII - that's what this 'ism' is responsible for - if you don't publicize it (which absolutely nobody does) how can you stop it doing the same thing again?
