Posting to different people showing in one post?
#1
I know this was discussed recently but is it going to get fixed? It’s extremely annoying when wanting to post to different people and it shows up in the post you just made. I’m having a hard time understanding how that’s even happening when I’m directing a post to 2 different individual people. It’s happened to me a few times and I have no idea why. I don’t think it happens if I leave the thread and come back. Last time I tried to fix it and made a even bigger mess of my post.
Apparently I’m in cult now, someone here told me so.

Yeah ... that confused me at first.
I don't like it either.

Crazy, one of the times it happened it was a post to you but had someone else attached to it.

Totally agree!  This is the single most aggravating feature on the whole website!

It's really an obnoxious function, and I dislike it immensely.

I've had to resort to separating posts with carriage returns and dots, like this...

(reply 1)
.
.
.
.
(reply 2)

So readers can see the separation between two replies.

Just cannot imagine why such a function would be desirable, other than to piss people off.  And, if that's the case, well...it's working!!  Totally irritating.

Most people visit a website periodically.  In one brief visit they may reply to several people in a thread all at once, especially a thread they authored as the OP.  To have several replies to other posters all show up as one consecutive post makes it difficult for everyone to understand.  Plus, even worse, a 2nd reply actually shows up as an "Edit" to the 1st reply, which is totally inaccurate.  It's not an edit at all; it's a wholly different reply to someone else.

Right? LOL. I just stared hitting return a few times to space the post apart. Well… maybe they’ll get it worked out. Seems like it would be a fairly easy fix but IDK. You’d know better than I would.

I thought the owner disabled it, but then later noticed that posts were still being combined. Maybe the option that they modified was descriptively similar to post-combining but was something else instead; maybe technically it's not even called "post-combining". I've had zero exposure to it other than here – maybe I should at least research it so I know what I'm talking about.

They don't seem to care about it either way, so maybe they're just busy with real-life stuff and will get 'round to it eventually.
Mod interference. It's moving time again.
