Zuckerburg gets Zucked

Isn't necessity the mother of invention, or is it more about adapting to what we have? If so

I’m all for nuclear energy.

If it hadn't been over-regulated back in the ‘80s, we’d probably have much cleaner, glowing green energy by now.

With crypto and AI on the rise, we’re going to need to come up with new power sources. But since both of those are still pretty new and a lot of money has already been thrown into them, they might not pan out in the long run, even though that’s still years away.

In the meantime, both will need power, and it's likely that the average person is going to bear the cost. For now, though, they'll figure out how to get powered up, even if it means the regular folks have to deal with the fallout.

For the summer time, our energy costs are reasonable
Burning trees for power is even worse than ethanol production. Yeah the regular person is already dealing with the fallout from AI power drain. It isn't going to end well. And that end isn't far off.

But zuck and mucous and the likes those evil people, will make it for a while. Long after everyone else is dead.

Care to enlighten me on what's really going on?" or just point me to a decent link that explains how a t-shirt at Wally World is an indicator of impending doom, despair, and agony

Sure thing captain. According to worldometer, we added around 100 million people in the last 19 months. I am sure you are pretty good at math, so you can figure out where that is going pretty quick.

Fossil fuel use isn't going down, it's going up. Then we got renewable energy where we need to mine like the world have never even thought about. Which I am sure you already know how toxic mining is. It's get better turns out renewable needs to be renewed quite often, so more mining. 30 years of dumping plastic in the ocean and still going.

But no worries, humans are helping suck up that plastic. With about 7 grams of micro plastic in the brain. Lets see what else?

Oh yeah that's right the weather, all over the world there is always a catastrophe. Lets not even talk about hurricanes and tornadoes. And the forest fire, you gotta love them. I figure trees were here when we got here, so they are probably are a necessity. And there is plenty more, if you want to look for yourself.

And lastly all those tech heroes and the ultra wealthy have been building massive bunkers and stock pilling them, it's a booming business. And since those guys like zuck and musk know so much. They must know something you don't.

I think this concludes our conversation.

Alas, the evidence of the Wally World t-shirt end-of-the-world parallel connection remains elusive...

I do want to watch the Lorax movie again.

Im not blind to environmental issues, but the time frame you are suggesting sounds imminent, which means we have already passed the point of no return. Having that knowledge does not equal being able to stop humanity's slide into oblivion. I appreciate your pretending you can "make a diff." Go get 'em, Scooter

If your theorized opinion is half correct, though, I have nowhere to easily bug out to, poor planning on my part, no doubt, it would take a miracle to get the 5-6 acres in the mountains and get a cabin and have supplies in 5 years, it's not in the cards.

At my age, I probably have 8-10 good years max, but stuck in suburban America, I'll have to hope I get advanced warning to bug out and hope to find a place to live while on the move.

So I'll likely not lose too much sleep over the prospect of the end of the world...

While all that is of deep concern there are massive benefits to using highly sophisticated algorithms (AI) to fill massive gaps in years of research. Material science and drug discovery is about to change the world as we know it.
So in the short term we will have issues, but the benefits far out way the negatives.
Gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette ?

Yes well said - some info below about the mindbogglingly insane amounts of water and electricity used by these data centres.

So much for energy conservation and governments claiming they give a toss about the environment lol.

Quote:In 2025, a Texas Water Development Board white paper projects data centers will use 49 billion gallons, projected to reach 399 billion by 2030, per HARC estimates, equaling 6.6% of Texas’ water use. 399 billion gallons of water would fill about 604,545 Olympic-size swimming pools.

Residents face strict water restrictions, cutting back on showers, while data centers operate unchecked, using water equivalent to thousands of households.

The article also speculates about "what happens when the AI 'decides' we mere humans don't need all that water, nor all that electrical power?".

Cheers.
