We get stereotyped by the media and society. How many times have you heard "redneck" or "hillbilly" used as a slur, meaning ignorant or backwards ?

We don't have a Starbuck's on every corner and we don't go to "the club" but we have boats, fishin' rods, guns and cold beer. We have 4 wheel drive trucks and mud...and if that don't sound like a good time, you're in the wrong part of the country. 

By the way....You're safer in the middle of a bunch of rednecks than you are walking down the street in New York.

Back in the 1900s, I was working with a company in the States, and whenever they'd have business partners fly out from Japan, they'd take them out to the gun range to shoot automatic weapons, and to the arena to see pro wrestling. They loved it! It's about giving them fun experiences that they can't get back home.

Everybody gets stereotyped, that's why we all get a mental image of someone when we ear they are from this or that country/region/religion/whatever.

The best way to stop it is to know personally those people.
