This is definitely not me criticizing anyone's life choices. Wait. Yes it is. Most definitely, but guys, I'm sitting here getting nicely toasted and I see this story on the YouTube and I was thinking. What in the world is going on?
Publisher's Clearinghouse went bankrupt. This news story is about that but it profiles this 61 year old man who won $5,000 a week for life back in 2012.
They interview him and say that when he won, he retired and I am not even kidding it says he "bought a house with land big enough for the four dogs and two goats."
Ok. Sounds great.
Until Publisher's Clearinghouse files bankruptcy and stops paying him of course.
Then it says that he is now "barely scraping by"
Guys. He received like 3 million dollars since 2012. Where did it go?
Well, who knows I mean he says he had to sell his jet ski and his trailer and has a little money left over that he is living on.
At least he bought that house, right?
NO! He is "pretty sure" he's gonna lose his home. So he has a mortgage, obviously.
My dude. Why didn't you actually buy a house with some of that 3 million dollars? I mean. Maybe you could have only got one goat instead of two, but sacrifices gotta be made to be sure you have a home to live in!
Sorry. I'm not trying to dunk on poor John, he is elderly and I cannot STAND to see any elderly person suffer. That is why I think we all need to use our collective brainpower to help him somehow.
And of course he retired back when he won this and now is struggling to find work. Ageism is a real thing. I've seen it.
But this is like........Day one stuff here. Day one.
I am editing to say they pay the "$5000 a week" as a lump sum of 260,000 once a year.
