The Hollywood Bowl, or should I say 'the HollyWEIRD Bowl, is putting on 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. And it decided to cast the Son of God, not as He is historically, but as a bald black queer woman. Hollywood ... constantly mocking God. But as the person in the article says, Hollywood wouldn't dare do this with Muhammad because the Muslims would tear up the world if their supposed 'prophet' was spat on like that. Christians, on the other hand, just sit by and don't speak up.
Hollywoods Jesus is a bald black queer woman
Ever heard of Corpus Christi? In the late 90s there was a play depicting Jesus and his apostles as gay guys in Texas. Like a 3 hour set-up for a steers and queers joke. The less blasphemous way has been done decades ago. I'm surprised they didn't make her a bald black heavy set transgender male. They left some phobia-based offensiveness on the table.
And maybe it's still somewhat needed culturally to poke at the phobic.
I honestly don't think any God we would know cares, the dark ages, crusades, crusades again, inquisitions, and pagan witch burnings spent thousands of years mocking the premise of God's love. Really bloody and terrifying God's love. And a world run amuck with Amalekites apparently. There was once a saintly holiday for killing witches that is now just a may pole more in touch with it's pagan roots, which was the original reason for making it Walpurgisnaught to begin with.
But you are right, this is Hollywood mocking the God of the contemporary conservative Christians. West Hollywood, mostly. And the more abrasively Trump-like policy goes after LGBT, the more Hollywood (Industry liberals) drop the heartfelt attempt at looking like they are genuinely breaking equality barriers... and more towards sending in the drag queens to dance.
And speaking of Hollywood queens...
The Muhammad thing can be done if nobody that would care pays attention. The Southpark guys got away with depicting Mohammed as a fire shooting "Super Best Friend" until after 9/11. They also depicted a flying Muhammad in the opening credits for two seasons. It was object impermanent until it wasn't.
If Christians want satire to be as scared of offending them as Muslims they need to cut off more heads and use more explosives.
I feel if it's making you angry, it worked as intended. Points to the devil for the recognition of their obscenity. It might be easier and take away their intended goals if one were ignore it and think, "Well that sinner is gonna burn in hell" and wish them the best with their blasphemies.
I hate Trump's administration, but so far he has all the points because I allow myself to find reasons to fault everything he does and react to his carnival barking. If I don't read his tweets I don't get trolled.
But then I and others would have to let it all slide, and it's far too retributive of a world for that.
