My husband.   He's done many wonderful things in his life to help other people and animals, but for me specifically, he donated a kidney.   In addition, he kept me alive in the hospital when I had covid (and immunosuppressed from transplant) when the doctors wanted to stop and let me die.  When I was in the ICU, one physician was screaming in my (unconscious) face:  "You're going to die!"   He stopped that BS.   He practically lived there in the hospital with me.

WOW ... that's seriously insane!
I swear half the doctors I've had were just guessing or in fact did more harm than good.
What you describe is just cruel.

I've spent more time than I'll admit in hospitals.  Never for myself.  Docs are hacks and nurses are quacks. It's a fucking circus and nobody gives a shit outside of their directive. Which changed for COVID.  In Canada at least, good doctors who cared have been fired for not following COVID rules that violate personal health and safety.

Remember that time a couple of nurses in Quebec killed an impoverished mother of two because they thought she would be better off that way?  Welcome to canada

Edit - I am NOT Canadian. Lol

Yeah, it's kinda the exact opposite of, "Hang in there!  Stay with us!", isn't it?

I really can't stand the health care community by and large now.   I know some oustanding exceptions, but they are just that.  Exceptions.    I had four physicians stop practicing medicine during the "pandemic".   I'll never know whether it was because they didn't want the risk of exposure or because they saw through the BS and ongoing harm to patients.

I did not know that about the murder of the mother.   Canada has really gone dark.

I humbly submit that it's not Canada that has gone dark.  It the medical "culture."

Once the paradigm of "clinical detachment" became a tenet of medical training, the human connection was practically eliminated... and "outcomes" was shifted from the health and well-being of the patient to the "notional virtue and metrics" of the doctor.  We see it afflicting most western medical communities.

I too have great horror stories to share regarding what 'doctors' have become (and done)… but they don't listen because... "I'm not a doctor, I can't understand."  Rolleyes

Now it seems that heroes in the medical field are those who buck the system, going against the insurance companies or medical boards.

Although I will give a shout-out to Doctors Without Borders. Those guys seem to still bring it. Thumbup

Edit: A rather cynical thought: Perhaps Doctors Without Borders acts as a sort of moral safety-valve in the medical community. Oh, you want to do good and not feel like you're part of a soulless machine? Go spend a few months at Doctors Without Borders, then come back and return to the grind.

As said in America we've gone from hero's who multigenerations looked up too, over to "the flavor of the month". My personal criteria is;

Does this person have ethics & strong morals?
Are they always cheerfully inspiring?
Do their real lives match their public persona?

Mike Rowe
Mitch Blashski (sp) foreman from Parker Schnabel's crew-Goldrush
Dr. Michael Heiser
Dr. Jordan Peterson

YT Hero's;
Chickanic- Bre who makes small engine repair simple for scaredy-cats.
Lawn Care Juggernaut- originator of the random lawn mowing movement.
SeeJaneDrill- Leah Bolden walks scaredy-cats thru home repairs.

Go figure? ;
West Wing- just watched the "rock the vote" episode again and it's shocking most of the issues are exactly the same 20+ yrs later. Doesn't matter what political party, I WANT to believe & HOPE we have persona's like Leo, CJ, Sam, and the rest in the Whitehouse. Absolute pipe dream but there it is.

Firefly- perserveering despite all odds. Little weird it seems prescient with reevers being a lab accident? Still, optimistic.

I have no words.
It's absolutely true if a patient doesn't have a pittbull of a family advocate with them they're going to "get dead quick". Then there's dodging the bullet of "dying from Doc's stupidity".
I'm always going to understand people are fallible. I'm NEVER going to be onboard with willful arrogance & incoppetence (sp) sporting a stethescope & white coat.
