That is a good point and as you mentioned in another thread, it's whether you take the long view or not. Consider this: as God is sovereign, any hate in the world exists directly or indirectly by his will, as He is all-powerful. The usual theological reasoning is that it exists at all so as to guide us to His grace. Thus, in the here-and-now, God can allow hate to be as weak or as powerful as necessary, to achieve His ineffable will. So the way that plays out, it seems, is that love does not trump hate in every instance. The battle is not the war, which as you point out, is already and always has been won.

there is probably an extremely fine line, perhaps only a hairs-width of perception wide, between 'gracious and non controlling' and 'making room for fafo'.

UltraBudgie, it's like if you view animals and or human tribal ancestors and how they naturally operated as family and then tribes or packs.

It takes a bit of love to not only formulate a plan of survival for your family but to connect with others you consider your family as a tribe and assist in tribal development and survival together.

Development that will sustain the tribe overall. 

On the opposite.  If the ancestors operated selfishly and just felt they will only protect their family independently and take from the rest regardless if the others make it or not or do not survive the individual family wouldn't be able to sustain as much as the tribe would of.

No.  In a material existence full of inconsistencies we woven into temporary body forms cannot expect to resonate on a 100% love frequency.  That would destroy most who tried.  But taking the time to consider others who inhabit locations that you do or similar to yours appears to be more beneficial overall.

that's deeply wise and perhaps why travel is said to broaden the soul. pure love, as tangibly manifested through empathy, is unanchored without direct experience. it sort of loses life, ya know? the direct interactional and applicable vitality of it all, and becomes a sterile abstraction. and i've also noticed that the voids made by absence of those direct experiences such as given by travel are exactly the places in a person's worldview where inchoate hate festers. deny ignorance, heh.

Love is stronger.  And is hate really more prevalent?  Sure, it gets the headlines but in the end hate will burn itself out.  How many acts of love go unnoticed each day?  

Both love and hate are strong emotions, but not opposites.  The opposite would be apathy or having no emotion at all.

There is an old saying - 'Love is stronger than hate".

That makes a good sound bite ... but is it true?

If you take life on Earth and measure which is stronger,
love or hate , it seems very obvious that hate is stronger.

It isn't until you add the Christian notion of an afterlife with
a loving creator God doling out rewards and punishments 
that you can possibly get the 'love is stronger than hate'.

I say that on Earth, hate is stronger than love.
It's more motivating.   It has more passion.   
It has more energy.  It is more binding.

And yes, some people love to hate.

It all depends on the situation and what is hated.

Love and hate are both powerful emotions.

But i have to suggest that love is stronger in the long run.

Hate burns hot and fast.

It pushes people to do extreme things, start fights, even wars.

But it usually eats away at the person holding its soul.

Love is a deeper experience.

It builds relationships, families, friendships, movements, and even allows for the concept of a second chance.

If you add in Christian theology then love wins
because they have the notion that in the end
