What are the guests looking at?
#1
Any interesting analytics for our forum?

I notice there is over 1000 visitors each day, but I don't see any of the threads getting a 1000 views. From what I have seen, if you get 10 people looking at a thread you are lucky so we get to a 1000 views that way. Where are all the visitors going?
I call not love in human frame,
But chrome, and fire, and roaring flame.
She came in smoke and metal breath,
A streak of lust, a dance with death.

It's likely because bots are in the same usergroup as guests by default but I'm going to change that.

I've now curbed a lot of the bots browsing DI, and limited AI scraping significantly. That should make things more accurate. Note that those numbers are largely correct though. We do see an average of 1000 unique users a day. I've compared multiple analytics to get that figure and that's the current daily average. Remember, many lurk before they post. Sometimes for years.

AI scraping is funny, good lord...the threads that gets posted here that it's getting trained on.

I've also implemented blocks for Mainland China to counter some of their tomfuckery. Logs show suspicious Chinese IPs probing the site, including login attempts with generic credentials like "Admin123," but we've successfully blocked them all. Deepseek concerns me a bit. So does OpenAI honestly. I could do more with Bob but I dont know if its a good idea. Not unless we ran our own AI model.

It seems almost tragic when such a useful and ubiquitous tool as LLM "AI," is also so egregiously applied abused to metricize what people say they think.  The volume of data being siphoned (collectively speaking) is telling.  I can assure you that we are not singled out here... this goes on absolutely everywhere... we are just part of everywhere.

As for the foreign sources of many of these abusers... well, I consider them all abusers, regardless of whose ideological side their on.

Free speech is about human thought, not algorithmically-contrived synthetic word models.

But that's only my opinion... perhaps one day to change... or maybe not...  (feeling in a debate mood...  Tongue )
