US government dives into entertainment memery
#1
I don't really "love" memes...  there usually hyperbolic or rude, bias driven, and frankly, cheap shots...

Enter the US Government's "Agency of the Quarter" ICE.

Now... no longer limited to executing the letter of the law... but using resources to engage in public shaming... with added humiliation for 'fun.'

I feared the entry of a prime media celebrity and social-businessman was a choice most people apparently risked... but none of them wanted the government to become a participant in activist speech.

White House alters arrest photo of ICE protester, says “the memes will continue”

Quote:“The White House shared an AI-edited photo of Nekima, depicting her in tears and scared when, in actuality, she was poised, determined, and unafraid,” NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson said yesterday.

Reader-added context on X said, “This photo has been digitally altered to make Nekima Levy Armstrong appear to be in distress. The Director of DHS herself posted the unedited photo in an earlier announcement.” White House Deputy Communications Director Kaelan Dorr defended the post after criticism of the image manipulation.

“Enforcement of the law will continue. The memes will continue. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Dorr wrote. The White House post with the manipulated image called Levy Armstrong a “far-left agitator” who “orchestrated[ed] church riots in Minnesota.”

It doesn't matter that the image didn't need to be altered, that her travails are a matter of record...

all that mattered was someone had a great guffaw over the image ...

You know this is going to start a war - right?

"Distractions are US."  inbound.

They shared a photo, they didn't make it.

Is it right?  Probably not.

Is it nice?  No.

Is it funny and demeaning?  Yes.

MOAR MEMES!

Biggrin

I do appreciate a good meme... used to punctuate a point...
I'm just picky about my points...

I accept that this is a common thing... which I would be prudish to snub...  and I do laugh at most of them...
others just make me sad... not as much for the subject of the meme, as for people who think it's a complete thought.

I would accept the attitude from a teenager, of a teenage mindset... but my tax payer dollars, and our collective need for government agencies ... isn't about schadenfreude... malicious glee...

I don't need to be "entertained" by theater in law enforcement...

If the altered photo was a private message... isn't someone in trouble?

Just imagine a meme as a punctuation point, an exclamation mark.

I'm mostly sick of the ones that make humor ugly....
(that, and the "Trump- colored" ones.)

I find memes funny, even the anti-MAGA ones.  Some of those are creative, while most are just urine-soaked bitter sheets.

It is proof that the White House is not being truthful and is more concerned with pure propaganda in facing the public.

While it is demeaning, I don't see any particular humour or wit in the 'meme'.

My presumption is that the maker and the deceptive re-poster of the 'meme' are fairly infantile.

A total PR rebound.

You have to take it in context.

She came off strong and angry and righteous after and during the church attack.

Now she's sad.

lol

Sucks to be her.

Hope she gets 10 years in jail.
