Colors are based on lean of state, not city.
All cities have MSAs in excess of 1,000,000.
± = net population growth of Metropolitan Statistical Area

And instead of making any specific point I'm just going to note (bias) things I find interesting.

All stats from US Census Bureau, FBI crime stats, and Google AI.

* Will provide any stats requested.

Notes:

• The only cheapest cities in blue states are the wonderful cities of Buffalo and Rochester, NY. Two Thruway rust belt gems that are removing freeways.
• There are an equal number of population-declining MSAs on each table.
• The average violent crime rate of Table Two is more than twice the average rate of Table One.
• The two safest cities (per FBI) of San Jose and San Diego are also the two most expensive cities.
• The least safe cities of all 30, Detroit and St. louis are on Table Two. With several other top 10 crime areas appearing on the list like; Birmingham, Milwaukee, and Rochester.
• There are no cities in a state with the $7.25 federal minimum wage on Table One.
• All with a minimum wage above $15.00/hour the most cost effective cities are; Buffalo, Rochester, and Tucson.
• The average poverty rate on Table Two still exceeds the poverty rate of Table one.
• Table Two MSAs have more than twice the African American population as Table One.
• Table One has more than five times the Latino population compared to Table Two.
• Table One is far less religious than Table Two.
• Gun ownership rates in Table Two far exceeds that of Table One.

That's my notes, but you have your own biases too, so please add to my list of observations.
