California's AB 495 is being called the "Legislators Trafficking Bill.”

What's the scoop here, Californians this can't be legit

California's AB 495 is being called the "Legislators Trafficking Bill.” It lets anyone fill out a form naming a child and request custody from school without background checks, ID, or parental notification. Don’t believe it, go check http://realimpact.us for details. If it passes, families should flee California to protect their kids.

Jeeez, WTF? Let's just tack on a medical care approved by non-relatives rider to our immigrant support legislation.

Even i have limits to my devil's advocacy... I really attempted to defend this, then thought "fuck it."

So....

Sweet! A Groomer Bill!

Maybe all the celebrities are running out of adrenochrome?

Hey, but at least now we can take religious people's children from them and let strangers approve their sex changes. Because, in Liberal California, religiously phobic parents are psychologically abusive if they won't approve gender affirming care. Now the woke teacher can take custody of a student with oppressive parents.

I guess they're really gonna try that.

Though I think this road to hell was paved with the best intentions. Intentions for the children. For the naturalized children of illegal aliens!

The Best intention:
Quote:California Assembly Bill 495 (AB 495), also known as the Family Preparedness Plan Act of 2025, aims to support immigrant and mixed-status families.

The road to hell:
Quote:AB 495 faces significant opposition from groups like the California Family Council, attorneys, parental rights advocates, and faith-based organizations. They argue the bill dangerously redefines guardianship, strips away parental rights, and could potentially make kidnapping easier due to a loose definition of "nonrelative extended family member" and a lack of safeguards like background checks, court oversight, and parental consent for important decisions like medical treatment.

California: Transitioning the genders of birth right children since it became apparent all politics need to troll the other party...

I think the ability of non-relatives to bypass the parents and approve medical treatment may outweigh the "standby guardian" immigration part of it...

I'm sure this will go over REAL WELL.

the darn problem is that the question really is

what is best for the kids?

other than not having their parents rounded up, that is

All the advocates for this bill are focusing on that. Like it supposedly makes it easier for a cousin or family friend to take custody (which includes taking them to the doctor for normal things) should their parents, who have been here long enough to have naturalized children, get rounded up..

I think that's the honest intention.

But if my first thought is, "Great, we are trolling with assembly bills that create loopholes to strip parents of their right to have final say in their children's lives on issues they disagree with," I gotta guess that's going to take precedence in deciding this all.

They just keep pushing complete state control over your children. In the name of protecting them. Which is odd, since the people they claim to be protecting with this ludicrous bill. Are the one's they are exploiting.

I tried to read the complete bill, its history, and revisions, and got caught in the web of legalese wording.

****The following are the Grammarly-assisted thoughts from the OP****

America was largely built through compromise, but now it lives and breathes through the loopholes or lack thereof in our legislature.

How popular is this?
I wholeheartedly support initiatives aimed at advancing the greater good, even though there are valid concerns regarding potential loopholes that could be exploited. It seems there is a logical rationale behind the provisions of this legislation. Could you provide specific percentages or statistics reflecting public opinion and potential population impacts associated with its implementation?

Regardless, this seems like a state's at-will legislature.

If it wasnt semi-popular, it wouldn't have gotten this far.

Mostly though, Im still stuck on the Cali legislature banning autonomous tractors since the 90s and projecting...

I mean, autonomous tractors are definitely for the greater good, and would help small farmers immensely. How about I vote yes on the guardian issue, but we get driverless John Deere tractors being sold in Cali.

You know, like a compromise...
