Sure, not only poor buy tickets but if you are financially disadvantaged, those extra dollars spent have a greater impact on those who can least afford to do lottery.
The vast majority of buyers are low income. They will hit for $1000... not realizing they spent $5000 on tickets. Nothing wrong with playing for fun though but buying lotto tickets is not an investment strategy or retirement plan!
I buy like $100 worth of tickets a few times a year when pot gets up around several hundred million. I figure someone has to win.
