In my opinion thats more about the British military wanting more spending and the slow procurement proccess than us actually running out. It was good for the tabloid headlines.
If things get bad we can always throw jellied eels at our enemies, it's enough to make anyone run a mile.

The same warmongers running rampant in the Ukraine region of Russia are the same killing people in Gaza, Yemen, Syria, WhoCaresAbout Lebanon... If we end war we wont need to eat bugs.
