The Summer Sunset
#1
Dust settles on one's memories, eyes, leaving me with past fragments.
The frost melts over my eyes, revealing the ropes holding back the days.
After years of hacking away at the knots, I witness the Summer Sunset over Everest's rubble.

Between the dusty ashes, flooded streets that once crowded minds dry out.
Those left behind never let the sun go down on their devastating innings.
Surrounded by silt, they remain stranded in a deflated life raft.
I desert their growing past echoes on life's highways.

Free from the restraints, I fly over the patched quilt work and autumn leaves.
