No kidding.
And yes, it's a real event. Guys, remember that we women aren't always fond of some of your observations, so please remember your audience.
AND WITH THAT... the tl;dr version is - Islamic cleric declares immodestly dressed women (his standards of immodesty, mind you) are corrupting men everywhere and corrupting the earth and we are getting more earthquakes. Purdue student gathers co-conspirators to set up a day of protest where (200,000 women?) they "dress immodestly" -- more so than usual (but not immodestly by our standards.) Earthquake stats for that day are measured and run... and no, immodest women don't cause earthquakes (quelle surprise!)

There now... don't you feel much smarter?
I thought so. :D
I guess, presumably, that pre-industrial revolution there were no earthquakes. People dressed pretty modestly back then.
Which element of nature 'evaluates' immodesty and then reacts proportionally? This demonstrates the fallacy of "things happen because God is watching."
In early 2010, there came news reports that an Iranian Islamic cleric, Kazem Seddiqi, had blamed earthquakes on God's wrath because of women who dressed immodestly and advised "Many women who do not dress modestly lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which increases earthquakes" and Iranians should "adapt their lives to Islam's moral codes" to avoid being "buried under the rubble."
Yikes! I can only assume that feminist activists everywhere took that as "fighting words."
