The Guard will be walking in Memphis
#1
Ive always loved Memphis/Germantown, used to have work-related road trips once or twice a year.

Last time I was there, it had changed, felt a little more seedy and a lot more skeevy.

President
@realDonaldTrump
just announced he is sending the National Guard to Memphis. Thank you, Mr. President, for restoring law and order in Democrat-run cities that refuse to crack down on violent crime in favor of soft-on-crime agendas. Let’s Make Memphis Safe Again.

He also said he'd bring in the military too, if he decided it was needed.

The new normal for American cities. What a beautiful trip it has been to get to where we are as a nation.
I should get some popcorn beer ready for this weekend. I think it will be turbulent and weird.

When I was a kid, the big bad was the Commies and we learned all the horrible ways life was in Russia.
  • Show us your papers
  • No free speech
  • Press controlled by the government
  • Sent to the gulags for political dissent
  • No criticizing the government
  • Total mass surveillance - no privacy
  • Military backed authoritarian dictatorship - elite ruling class
  • Poverty & breadlines

And that's just some of the propaganda us Boomer kids in the 50s and 60s heard every day that I can remember.

But damn, why is it not hard for me to see some of the same things happening in this country? I won't even mention parallels to 1930s Germany we're too slowly boiled frogs to notice.

While the National Guard is not military per se like the Army or Marines, nevertheless, seeing armed soldiers in uniform patrolling the streets American cities as a quasi Federal police force chills me to the bone. Using a technicality to get around Posse Comitatus for political grandstanding and as diversion from other issues seems like we sink lower at every turn.

BTW, the original is better (And Marc Cohn was kinda hot!)

It would be great if a rescue operation was held in Denver. It has become a very dangerous place. My son was getting into an Uber and the driver pulled a gun on him. My husband was driving home from work and fortunately he made it through the underpass, because an illegal who could not read the road sign instructions to use his breaks coming down from the mountains, hit some cars at full speed. Everyone was killed, burned alive. It was unbelievable, he was sentenced but then the gov commuted the sentence.

I went to an outlet mall a few weeks ago and I felt like I was in Mexico- it was the only language being used.
Signage is in both languages. I asked an employee at Whole Foods a question but he couldn't speak any English. In fact at this point I feel that we are outnumbered.

The city employs them to do work, which should be available for Americans. The lead speaks both languages and the crew only Spanish.

We were heading down to New Mexico. You should see the number of crosses lining the highway from Denver. It is a crime against humanity. Whole families of crosses, including baby crosses. They are removed yearly so new ones can be erected the following year. The reason they get killed is because there are no streetlights and they travel at night wearing dark clothing.

The mayor of Denver tried to farm out illegals to nearby cities so hoping to turn them into sanctuary cities as well but they got wind of it.

My daughter drives into the city for work and she is in terror that she may have to stop at a red light. If that happens they swarm her car.

It's really not a good situation. There are companies that will only hire hispanics and if an American applies they will not hire them. I suppose they pay them less than the going rate.

It wouldn't have to be done if these "insert who we all know runs these cities" would actually police and take control of their cities, instead of letting the patients run the asylum.

Are you giving discredit to the police and other first responders?
