Is the Linux system that helpful?

And is Linux Ubuntu about the best/easiest/whatever?
My brain doesn't want to learn a lot of new stuff.

As far as "walking me through the setup" IT WAS EXCELLENT.

Don't know about now, but I don't expect it got much worse.

The learning comes with launching applications,
understanding how to choose them
go slow,
start simple.

Solitaire... or something.

I will wager a dollar that it runs great on your old computer.

( I forgot that might not be legal  Saint2)

There are so many Linux but Ubuntu works great. It will make your computer fast again.

I would install it and choose to wipe out windows. It works great.

I would recommend this version, if it seems like it would work for you:
https://xubuntu.org/

It's Ubuntu, but with a bit more old-fashioned interface. Works real snappy on older hardware. Less useless fancy bloat, but still easy to use.

I like the old-fashioned idea.
I'll take a look.
Thanks.

I dont plan on switching because I use my PC for music production with cracked software (!) and also casual gaming.
I have questions of curiosity though.
In Linux/Ubuntu, what is the driver support like?
Can it see/use things like new graphics cards like the RTX series?
How is it with audio drivers?

When Linux updates it updates the drivers too. There are some NVIDIA drivers that you have to self update on Linux.

I have an old MAC Book. Apple stopped updating it, I am running virtual Linux on it. It brought everything back to life.

interesting. i may regain some of my lost tech love after Apple and social media and finally Technocrats killed it starting around 2006 and buy a clunker laptop and just play around with linux on it for shits n giggles. less customization ease that way vs desktop. but it seems easier to find cheap laptop that work than desktop stuff these days
hmmm
