Afghanistan law permits rape and suggests that a husband abusing his wife will not be considered grounds for divorce.

This is so sad and heart breaking, I don't even know what to say, poor little girls. 

I don't know these girls, but they are my sisters, and I remember what it was like to be nine.

Im not doubting the existence of this law but im a little unnerved by the fact that I can't find a single copy of this law anywhere and am only being fed biased interpretations of it and am not allowed to make my own opinion about it by reading it for myself

I can't be like Ooohhh so messed up just because the guardian says this is what it says, or the UN, or anyone really. I can't trust media to not twist words or embellish because its their business to do so.

Again, not doubting its validity, just find it extremely annoying and I think it's wrong to not print it along side your views so the reader can make their own minds instead of forced to take yours *in reference specifically to the guardian*

Apparently, Afghanistan law functions as a verbal decree and no written law so we just have to take UN word for it because we aren't there and the guardian reported on it from the UN im guessing. They could easily tell us anything and we'd have no choice but to buy it

It "stopped happening" once the Taliban retook power, but sexual exploitation of children, seems WAY more culturally tolerated there.

Made some phone calls after you said that to make sure but none of the combat vets I talked to currently have ever heard of "ignore thursday" that deployed there, it may be after their time though or before? They did hear about the boy thing however but apparently the taliban outlawed it as you said and when the US started wiping them out it came back but is currently not a thing again since we left but it was a thing in like 1998 or so but yeah taliban harshly (is it harsh to punish that?) Punished it

The goat sport is called Buzkashi if anyone's curious about that

That article is full of "appears" and "mays". Too bad journalism these days doesn't bother too much with sources.
