The topic of fires comes up in Newsom's book.

He had just been elected Governor but was not yet sworn in. President Trump specifically asked that he would join Gov Jerry Brown to inspect the Paradise fire. [Paradise is emphasized].
Gavin was loathed to join because of the "optics". Nothing in his narrative demonstrates any concern about the loss of life and destruction of property. Instead, weirdly he was fixated on Trump's hair.

He did not want to go on this tour but was finally convinced by his wife to go. Her reasoning?
"Anne was more concerned about what lay ahead. 'This won't be the last wildfire that's going to hit California,' she said. '...And this won't be the last disaster declaration we're going to need from the Trump administration.'"

Very curious. Governor Brown told Newsom that he had never flown on Air Force One despite being the 34 and 39th governor of California. So this was his first time and here was Newsom not yet governor taking the flight with him.

On the plane was Jared Kushner along with General John Kelly.

I'm not sure what to make of this.
Trump had wanted Ivanka to return the call from Tom Brady [he wanted to date her] but she snubbed him. When asked she told him that she loved Jared Kushner.

"This Kushner guy. I said to Ivanka, 'Not the guy whose father just got out of prison?"

Kushner responded- "Yes, sir. I know I wasn't your first choice."

Reading through his book he paints himself as a latch key kid, being raised by his mother.
That his sister, Hilary, and he shuttled back and forth between parents. Things were hard, or so he implies.

However today in the Wall Street Journal Tevi Troy has an article correcting Newsom's version of reality.
