Strange sounds heard in the sky... Can anyone identify?

Just heard this weird sound (approx 16:35 UK) at first I thought it was a dog doing some sort of weird howl but it kept going quite consistently, so I listened some more. It sounded like it was coming from a few streets away but a high up/sky sort of sound rather than a road/house sound if that makes sense.

The sound seemed to move away so I thought oh well, it's gone now...but then it came back (it was continuously sounding the whole time, just further away and then back to original sound location) and thats when I thought ah-ha I will record this!!

I've taken a 17 second video on my phone which I couldn't upload due to file size, I managed to trim it down to less than the max size but now it's saying incorrect format.  

If anyone can please help guide me how to upload this video from my mobile (I'm using the DI app) you will be able to hear the sound I'm talking about!

(Growing up catholic I have a deep fear of revelation so my initial thought of course, was TRUMPETS ARRGGGHGGHHH!!)

All in all, it went on for a good few minutes and stopped after I'd finished the recording - haven't heard it since (currently 17:15 UK)

Interesting!!!  I hadn't heard of that, thank you!! My noise sounded similar but shorter 'hums' more like a depressed sounding 'wommm'....  'wommmm'....'wommmmm'

Is the military flying drones in your area ?

Check the area for an industrial heat pump. Those things run with a lot of resonance sometimes and I had exactly the same thing happen where I used to live here in France.

The sound would come and go "on the wind" but was at an incredibly noticable frequency which got right into my head.

It was only noticable with low cloud cover.

The neigbours around the equine farm that had the pump must have been Saints so eventually they planted a load of Fir trees around the industrial box with the pump in it and it sorted the problem.

That, or those bloody tunnel boring machines carrying on the lattice under there. Perhaps so the Elite can travel without having to look at the poor folk.

Is the military flying drones in your area ?

Not that I know of, how would I find out any military drone activity? It's very overcast at the minute so couldn't see anything in the sky when the noises were sounding.    We don't often get military near us as we are on a flight path for EMA - at best we are lucky enough to get the Lanc fly over once a year on its way back from an airshow!

That is a bit creepy. Sounds like a ghostly dog howling.

Weird right!!!!!!

Not near the moors, but near Newstead Abbey which is pretty creepy and legend has it that Lord Byron's ghostly dog 'boatswain' can sometimes be seen running along the roof of the Abbey...
