I hope the link works, there’s no pictures but, meh.
This house went on the market for about 1.4 million dollars Canadian.
5 year old, 5 bedroom, 2 level, ~3500sqft, triple attached garage!
It was ignored because it doesn’t have a spice kitchen!
I had never heard of this feature until now and I was blown away by looking it up. It’s pretty much a second kitchen for cooking with spices and oils etc that can be closed off to keep odors and aromas from going throughout the rest of the house.
Apparently this is a feature that’s very common in Eastern cultures. Curry and other very aromatic spices? East Indian dishes specifically I imagine.
Anyhoo, I was most surprised that the lack of this feature was the big deal-breaker. There is a large East Indian population in Calgary (I know, I worked there as a Paramedic in the ‘90s) and they have some amazing homes.
Has anyone else seen, heard of, or even has one of these? I can’t imagine paying the utilities for a place with 2 kitchens, as well as the other amenities!
I’m quite frugal obviously if that is my first impression, but wow!
My 2 pesos…

My ex is Asian. In our house she had to keep spices in a separate area! We did not have a spice kitchen.
She is not Indian but her spices drove my crazy and must have driven her crazy too for her to have to separate them lol.
I can blame her cooking from her culture for the reason I left. Every morning my clothes smelled so bad from her cooking. She would bake dried stinky fish for herself every night with rice! Smoke would fill the house.
I politely asked her if she could cook this on the grill outside. She said no. I told her the cooking had to go or I go!
I lost and left her. lol
Be kind to everyone!
