Shut Up and Watch it , , , , Frankenstein a film by Guillermo del Toro.
Artistic, over the top, an excellent version of the classic tale.
It's on the Netflix application dot com.
Won't tell any spoilers, because everyone knows the story, there are none.
So shut up and watch it or else I'll add you to Teams meetings with Jeffery Toobin.

Apparently I’m in cult now, someone here told me so.

Thanks for the Heads Up!! I will look for it on Netflix, which, incidentally, displays quirky content, even to those who use a VPN.
I have always loved the Frankenstein saga. Most people don't realise it is a love story.

Just finished it, very good movie. Some variances to Mary Shelley’s original but a great rendition for sure. Frankie reminded me of the drummer of Slipknot

I watched it last night and thought it was very good. Close to the Novel but with a couple of minor changes (no spoilers).
The cinematography was outstanding, and it did feel very artsy and emotional. I second the notion...just watch it.

Loved the book and so watched this on release. A classic Frankenstein film with Guillermo del Toro's excellent cinematography. Can't go wrong!!

I watched this today. It was magnificent. All versions of Frankenstein are ultimately sad, at least for me. This one, least of all. The creature didn't ask to be 'born'. He has simple needs, in fact far simpler that most of us could come to terms with. He needs to feel a part of something, to be a friend to someone, to feel meaning.
I like Christoph Waltz quite a bit and was sorry that his role wasn't larger; he shines in everything he does.
I very much respect all that Jacob Elordi did to immerse himself in his role, from (at least according to IMBD) "For his role as the Monster, Jacob Elordi studied Japanese Butoh dance (a form that involves undignified poses and dark themes) and Mongolian throat singing to capture the Monster's mannerisms. He was incredible.
Also from IMBD: "Frankenstein's laboratory and Captain Anderson's ship were fully constructed sets. "I want real sets", director Guillermo del Toro explains. "I don't want digital, I don't want AI, I don't want simulation. I want old-fashioned craftsmanship: people painting, building, hammering, plastering." Everything felt that way. It felt authentic.
I haven't read Mary Shelley's book in a decade or so, but this feels like the same spirit of the book. The horror isn't the creature, it's the works of people who are so terrible. The creature is the victim. I didn't hear anywhere in this movie that the creature was given a name. Perhaps I missed it. That was sad also.
Thank you SO much DCB for telling us about this great work. For those who don't have acess to NETFLIX, I was surprised to see it featured on PLEX. It's possible that it was listed as a rental. Well worth it, either way.
