The Islamic Connection to Catholicism.
#1
Walter Veith presents the evidence that Islam was created by Roman Catholicism. Who was the prophet Muhammad before starting Islam?

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here. I will show you the judgement of the great prostitute who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality. Those who dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her sexual immorality.” He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-coloured beast, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of the sexual immorality of the earth. And on her forehead a name was written, “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered with great amazement. The angel said to me, “Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. The beast that you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go into destruction. Those who dwell on the earth and whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel when they see that the beast was, and is not, and shall be present. Here is the mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. They are seven kings. Five have fallen, the one is, and the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must continue a little while. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goes to destruction. The ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority as kings with the beast for one hour. These have one mind, and they give their power and authority to the beast. These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with him are called, chosen, and faithful.” He said to me, “The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages. The ten horns which you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute, will make her desolate, will strip her naked, will eat her flesh, and will burn her utterly with fire. For God has put in their hearts to do what he has in mind, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished. The woman whom you saw is the great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.” (Revelation 17:1-18 WEBPB)

After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory. He cried with a mighty voice, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hated bird! For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her sexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury.” I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don’t receive of her plagues, for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities. Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double. However much she glorified herself and grew wanton, so much give her of torment and mourning. For she says in her heart, ‘I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.’ Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burnt with fire, for the Lord God who has judged her is strong. The kings of the earth who committed sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her will weep and wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning, standing far away for the fear of her torment, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For your judgement has come in one hour.’ The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more: merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble; and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and people’s bodies and souls. The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you. All things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all. The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls! For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.’ Every ship master, and everyone who sails anywhere, and mariners, and as many as gain their living by sea, stood far away, and cried out as they looked at the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like the great city?’ They cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, ‘Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were made rich by reason of her great wealth!’ For she is made desolate in one hour. “Rejoice over her, O heaven, you saints, apostles, and prophets, for God has judged your judgement on her.” A mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, “Thus with violence will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and will be found no more at all. The voice of harpists, minstrels, flute players, and trumpeters will be heard no more at all in you. No craftsman of whatever craft will be found any more at all in you. The sound of a mill will be heard no more at all in you. The light of a lamp will shine no more at all in you. The voice of the bridegroom and of the bride will be heard no more at all in you, for your merchants were the princes of the earth; for with your sorcery all the nations were deceived. In her was found the blood of prophets and of saints, and of all who have been slain on the earth.” (Revelation 18:1-24 WEBPB)

That's an easily debunked load of 7th Day Adventist propaganda.
He doesn't make his case .. not even remotely.
You sure are hung up on the Catholics.
Three threads in a row bashing the crap out of them.
(and anyone who disagrees with your religion).
And in none of the threads do you show a glimmer of wisdom.

So we really need another "Catholics are evil blasphemers" thread? Why?  I think you've made your point. You really dont need to continue to attempt to proselytize/persuade people to your specific religious cause any further.. It's gonna get spammy at about thread 5 or 6.

We can now all surmise you value John 14:6 more than Romans 12:3.  That's good, many do, but it doesnt mean that interpretation, or the DESIRE TO CONVERT EVERYONE is "THE WAY" of Christ or even Christ-adjacent in action.

I found this religious non-profit run by The Seminary at Eastern University. They have a pretty good write up consistent with the ways of Christ...

Quote:Surely Jesus would desire that all of these foreigners leave their false religions and embrace the truth. So how did he approach them? Reading each of the passages (Luke 7, John 18-19, Matthew 15, Luke 17, John 4, Luke 10, Matthew 4 & 8, and Mark 3 & 7) mentioned above would be highly instructional for those of us who claim to follow Jesus. Here’s my summary of how Jesus interacted with those of other religions:

What Jesus DID:
– healed the sick
– delivered the demonically oppressed
– told people to tell others what God had done for them
– praised people for their great faith
– praised people as examples of what God wants
– announced they would feast in heaven with the earlier prophets.
Only when he was asked did Jesus reveal himself as Messiah (John 4) and King (John 18).

What Jesus DIDN’T do:
– follow his own Jewish culture’s prejudicial norms
– condemn or rebuke
– warn of judgment or hell
– argue theology, debate, quote the Scriptures, ask if people wanted to know the Gospel, or ask people to change anything.

Thoughts?

ETA:

I personally think Christ prefered action over words. Like instead getting on a bullhorn and calling everyone sinners and scaring them to repent, he found the one with the pitch-shifted voice and cocked head and prayed over them until they were cleansed of their demonic possession. And let THAT speak for god. But he DIDN'T judge them. He had mercy irregardless of belief and converted them through the impact his actions had on those he met.

Then maybe said, "And if you like what you see here, know I came as an emissary of God's eternal love."

When trying to prove there's something "up top", who needs words if you've got action?

Or something along those lines.

From Bible Gateway: (from Luke ch. 10:)

10  But into whatsoever city you enter, and they receive you not, going forth into the streets thereof, say:
11  Even the very dust of your city that cleaveth to us, we wipe off against you. Yet know this, that the kingdom of God is at hand.
12 I say to you, it shall be more tolerable at that day for Sodom, than for that city.
13  Woe to thee, Corozain, woe to thee, Bethsaida. For if in Tyre and Sidon had been wrought the mighty works that have been wrought in you, they would have done penance long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14  But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgement, than for you.
15  And thou, Capharnaum, which art exalted unto heaven, thou shalt be thrust down to hell.

"whatsoever city you enter" would include other faiths.

First thought: Oh IP (if you don't mind the initials) is bringing significance to an otherwise useless thread.

Second thought: This is actually the first thread that the OP posted. It was obviously not worth pursuing so no one responded to it.

I read the christiansforsocialaction article and though I feel it may be useful for some, it isn't for me.

For I am a foreigner to Judaism and Christianity both, although I spent 20 years as a professing Christian. I am therefore an apostate (worst of the worst).

According to the canonical Gospel of Matthew Jesus said:
"Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven." Matt 10:32 - NIV

So I say: I don't know Jesus. Moreover, what I thought I knew as Jesus was merely a strawman image of a man, not the man himself.

He pretty much called the Canaanite woman a dog, and he told the Samaritan woman "22You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews." John 4 NIV That pretty much contradicts
Quote:What Jesus DIDN’T do:

I just watched this video by Britt Hartley, Masters in Theology, former LDS, current atheist spiritual teacher. She points out a certain dilemma: "Is it better to seek truth or go along with religion for the greater good?"
That's right around 13:11.

For me personally, I don't have any problems with atheist nihilism. I'm not going to descend into self destructive behavior or go hurting people for a power trip or such.

So I wonder: should I just leave people be or attempt to help them reform their beliefs or just talk like an atheist?
There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. - Commander William Adama
