M.A.D remains a big thing.

We should always stand up to bullies.

This is all just impotent willy waving.

I tend to agree with you, Putin had done nothing but threaten Nuclear Attack since his invasion of Ukraine in attempts to deter any support of Ukraine in defending itself. If we did nothing then we'd be opening a can of worms for other countries in their quest for domination in areas of the world in dispute, the China sea and an independant Taiwan spring to mind.

I have lost count of the number of times the OP has gleefully threatened the UK with nuclear annihilation on ATS.

And now it continues on here.

Judging by the recent failed test launches of their much vaunted Wunderwaffen and the fact that their lumbering turboprop "strategic bombers" would be shot out of the sky pronto, if I were Putin, I'd think twice before kicking off M.A.D.

I've noticed that too.

The threads about hatred for the west, posturing, and sad chest beating continues, it must be a Russian thing as Putin does the same??

Putin bet his house of cards on the war in Ukraine and restoring the Russian Empire. Will Putin's ambitions test if Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) still holds weight? The answer to that question lies in Ukraine's war outcome and Putin's subsequent moves.

If MAD fails, WW3, with or without a limited nuclear exchange, is highly likely.

Weird. I thought the OP sounded more like American propaganda, actually. A caricature. Nothing like Putin actually talks, if you listen to him. I suppose it could be a parody, or perhaps entirely serious -- don't know don't care. It's all pretty obviously a non-issue.

An article was published in the liberal Russian publication "Gazeta.ru" "Russian military practiced delivering a massive nuclear strike", which says...

Yes, of course, no one wants this. But is Russia ready to use nuclear weapons against countries that will commit aggression against Russia with their weapons, according to the new nuclear concept of Russia, which was voiced by Putin and adopted by the Russian parliament? Tensions are growing. Is the West ready to sacrifice itself for the sake of illusory propaganda goals in Ukraine? Are you personally ready?

Thank you.

Interesting article about the woeful state of your nuclear arsenal, due to poor and non existent vital maintenance, ageing systems and endemic corruption:

ah ha the days of the sad weak biden administration are coming to a close and trump has promised to end the war in a way that goes boom if necessary!

Quote:Trump Picks Rep. Mike Waltz as National Security Advisor
Waltz has suggested he would advise Trump to escalate in Ukraine to pressure Russia to come to the table

...When explaining how he thinks Trump could bring both sides to the table, Waltz said the US could ramp up sanctions enforcement on Russia and support Ukraine using NATO-provided weapons for long-range strikes inside Russia, something President Vladimir Putin has made clear would risk nuclear war.

“First and foremost, you would enforce the actual energy sanctions on Russia. Russia is essentially a gas station with nukes. Putin is selling more oil and gas now than he did prewar through China and Russia. And you couple that with unleashing our energy, lifting our LNG ban, and his economy and his war machine will dry up very quickly,” Waltz told NPR.

“So I think that will get Putin to the table. We have leverage, like taking the handcuffs off of the long-range weapons we provided Ukraine as well. And then, of course, I think we have plenty of leverage with Zelenskyy to get them to the table,” Waltz added.

so go ahead and push that button mr putin we are not scared!

please

do you know that your name is what canadians call cheese? come to the table and we will eat some.

edit: oh and just because we have "plenty of leverage" with zelenskyy does not make him our proxy! stop saying that!
edit: no we will not eat canadians we will eat cheese!

Quote:Biden authorises Ukraine to use US long-range missiles to strike Russia

US President Joe Biden has given the green light for Ukraine to use long-range missiles supplied by the US to strike Russia, according to US media reports.

There is no formal confirmation by the White House or the Pentagon of the move which would be a major change of US policy.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has been urging for months for these restrictions on long-range missiles to be lifted, allowing Ukraine to target locations inside Russia.

I swear,... it's almost like someone doesn't want the war to end...

I'll say no more... it would be tiresome.
