Rush announces new North American tour with an fantastic new Fräulein on the skins

I can get behind this, and will go see them if possible...

Probably the first band I followed alot on my own... so prolific

I had an older brother and sisters who introduced me too
Black Sabbath Pink Floyd Zeppelin and many others... including Neil and Working Man

But Rush exploded with my demographic....

Man,  I dunno about this. Is it RUSH ?
Wellll,  it's Alex and Geddy and the new drummer is probably talented as hell otherwise they wouldn't have chosen her.....but it's not Neil Peart. So, to me at least, it's not......quite.
It's like when Hagar took over for David Lee Roth.

If they come somewhere near me I'll go see it, but she's gonna have to be pretty damn good to fill those shoes.

ETA - I just looked up ticket prices.

Nope. No. Hell naw. Not even for them.

$500 for the nosebleed section.

$2000 for floor seats

She will never be Peart...he is the GOAT

But she has serious skills, and if Lee and Lifeson are behind it.

I can't see them doing this just for the bucks and risking tarnishing the legacy, even Sammy gave the classic VH tunes something different... was it exact or better? no but it was still damn good, but they were younger

I've played the drums since I was a teenager.

Played some Rush tunes in quite a few half assed bands over the years, some of the songs we did were fairly easy to play, some were very difficult.

One of my favorites to play was always Red Barchetta.

That being said, I had never heard of her until the announcement yesterday, and it seems she has been around for a while.

From the videos of her playing that I watched, she is an amazing drummer technically, just like Peart was and it looks like she does it effortlessly.

Some of the off beat groupings she uses are difficult to follow on the videos for my old ass now, I think if I attempted some of them, it wouldn't be close.

I think if anyone could could fill Peart's shoes, it would be her for sure.

I was fortunate enough to have seen Rush before they hung up the guns. The last being their 40th anniversary tour which was magnificent, of course then Neil Peart passed. Never heard them sound better. That said, I don't think I'll be going to this "reunion", the new drummer seems plenty competent but without a doubt, some of Rush's mojo will be missing without Peart. I wish them a successful and profitable tour.

I saw Rush live once, during their Signals tour in '82.

That concert was amazing, and even after 43 years, I still remember much of it...

You never know what to expect from a concert. I saw Steve Miller live 13 years ago, and it was a great show, especially since he was 70. He had to use a backup singer for the last few songs, but by then, the crowd was really into it. He performed two encores, and he could have easily done four or five more

That's the truth. I don't doubt this incarnation of Rush will deliver a steller performance, but I don't think there's any way to recapture that magic that an original lineup brings. I had seats almost directly above Neil the last time I saw Rush, and basically got the god's eye view of the entire two hour performance from our seats high up stage left, never seen anyone drum like that in my life and I am a musician, from a family of musicians, my father himself being a career drummer. It was like watching Picaso paint. I was utterly awestruck, moved to tears by the performance.

Pantera is another instance – sure they have Anselmo on vocals, and Zakk is a phenomenonal guitarist but Vinnie and Dime are dead. There's no way to recapture that original magic and ferocity Pantera brought to the stage. The version of Pantera performing now is not Pantera in my opinion, it's a tribute act, and that's alright. You can't go into it expecting to see a show on the same level as Pantera in their prime with Dime and Vinnie. But, as I said, I wish this new version of Rush the best, and anyone willing to drop that kind of dime on what equates to a tribute act.

Seeing Rush in '82 must have been a trip though man.

It was top 5 for me and Ive been to loads of concerts from the very late 70s...conversely

I have no musical skills whatsoever... but I have known a few semi-pro rockers BITD, their appreciation and understanding is so deep I enjoy hearing it explained by real musicians

it's like King Crimson, one of those bands dudes turned me on to KC, and they are now a 45 year all-time favorite I've never gotten a chance to see live....

There's a young pro drummer on YouTube who will listen to a popular track sans percussion and then play his interpretation, and then dissect the original...

I really dig listening to songs Im familiar with redone
