Yeah that stuff never worked. They replaced pseudo, which did work, with it, because people were making meth with pseudo. And perhaps, if you want to be conspiratorially minded, because it worked well enough that there really wasn't much of a market for decongestants.
It was obvious the new stuff didn't work. Did nothing at all. What is interesting is that it took 10 years for anyone saying um, hey to get any traction. Are we that gaslit? I suppose so.
It all makes so much more sense if you interpret the "health" the FDA protects as the health of a particular economic sector. But that would be cynical. It would be detrimental to the health of the healthcare industry if they were perceived as propagating illness and ineffective remedies.
