Trump is trying to sell Xi LNG exports but at what cost?

------

"China is likely to resume significant LNG imports from the United States following a potential deal between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump during their summit in Beijing on May 14–15, 2026.
  • Trade Revival: U.S. officials state that a deal for Beijing to purchase more U.S. energy is under consideration, aiming to revive exports that were halted by tariffs.
  • Current Status: Direct shipments paused in February 2025 due to a trade war; however, three LNG vessels recently departed U.S. ports and are expected to arrive in China in mid-to-late June, marking the first direct shipments in over a year.
  • Economic Drivers: Analysts note that U.S. LNG is cheaper than Asian spot prices if Beijing removes its 25% tariff, and supply disruptions in the Middle East have increased China's reliance on diverse sources.
  • Historical Context: Before the recent halt, China imported $8.4 billion worth of U.S. LNG in 2024, but volumes dropped to near zero in 2025 after retaliatory tariffs were imposed. " (LLM)

You don't live in the US, you don't want to live in the US.

You know when you post about people in other countries that currently under some sort of threat?

Like Iran, or Venezuela, or Greenland, or Ukraine, or pretty much all the rest of the world whose trade with the US is being screwed.

It's like that.

I hate the idea that government can hold or invest my money better than I can.

I'm kind of glad they have social security. Some can't invest or won't invest. Or they just put it off. I know
a set of relative that decided to spend it all when young. Now all they have is Social Security.
You also could have some bad luck happen that's out of your control. I don't want my relatives asking me to pay their bills.    Lol

If Trump can't secure valuable trade and a big deal with LNG exports to China, then your Social Security and other social services will be at risk...for government national security (meaning warmongering and an Golden? arch and a ballroom) and to get rid of previously missed wasteful spending, will be the reasons.

Out of all the countries in the world, only Mexico and Guatemala have legal statutes that allow for the use of firearms for personal self-defense, although, unlike te USA, both countries impose significant restrictions on gun ownership.

Arming absolutely everyone is essentially allowing the populace to take the law into their own hands without restraint of legal trial and evaluation of evidence - that is not good and orderly law - it is anarchy.

In one small clause of statute, the second in the order of supremacy over all other US law, is the demonstration that the USA's legal system has been heavily compromised, right from its foundation - truly the fruit of a poisonous tree.

I was looking at other world trade data from non-US government sources and they paint a different picture.

"The Observatory of Economic Complexity (OEC) is an online data visualization and distribution platform focused on the geography and dynamics of economic activities. The OEC integrates and distributes data from a variety of sources to empower analysts in the private sector, public sector, and academia.

The OEC is currently designed and developed by Datawheel, but it began as a research project at MIT's Collective Learning group (former Macro Connections Group). The OEC was the Master Thesis of Alex Simoes (2012), directed by Professor Cesar A. Hidalgo."

"In March 2026 United States exported $209B and imported $291B, resulting in a negative trade balance of $82.2B.

Between March 2025 and March 2026 the exports of United States have increased by $26.3B (14.4%), from $182B to $209B, while imports decreased by $41.5B (-12.5%) from $332B to $291B."

I gave up the booze and the partying like twenty years ago and got addicted to lawn mowers instead. Specifically second hand Honda petrol mowers. Her indoors goes ental every time I find one on Facebook, I just mention they and few and far between compared to her handbags. Basically in the UK when you buy a second hand Honda they were either produced in France or the USA. After experimenting the positives and negatives of French and USA mowers I can without a shadow of a doubt award the quality prize to the Yanks. French mowers while still very good being Honda's just start falling apart after a decade or so. The plastics, gear boxes, wheels, steels, cables are quite simply inferior to those made by Yanks. Both might be Honda supplied but the American stuff just goes on and on. It's just made to a better standard than the French mowers. My dad used to say the Yanks over engineer their products and it's true. I always buy USA because of experience. Great exports.
