How to stay warm when TSHTF
#41
I live in a medium size town, in the suburbs. My condo is less than 1100 square feet. I have a good sized fireplace in my living room that can easily heat my entire condo. Living in Wisconsin, it's a really good thing to have a fireplace. I can also use it to boil water, if need be. I live within walking distance of a couple of lakes. I have adequate food and water.

I still have my late husband's diaper pail. He was incontinent from a stroke he had the year he had his quadruple heart bypass surgery. If need be, I would use that to poop and pee in. I have plenty of bags that once full, would go into my trash bin. I hope things never come to that, but where I live, wherever you live, you need to be at least somewhat prepared for power outages. Winters are harsh here.

No, it wouldn't be easy, but it would be survivable. I also have a couple of places I could bug out to if things got really bad. It's always good to have a plan, and a backup plan.

I think you are head and shoulders above the youth that surround you.    I don't want to besmirch the younger folk in any way, because they are the future.   Most of them don't prepare in any significant way for a possible future in which supplies or warmth are scarce..  I work with some of the younger generation around me, and while they they I'm an old coot, they also have learned certain skills that I think will benefit their lives.  We will see.  Tongue
