Please.... what debate would you like to see?
#1
We need some help.

As it grows, our debate project requires input from you.

Debate topics are infinitely varied.  I was thinking about how to go about making a list of different topics... (not the debates themselves, just the topics) and I found myself wondering how to find out what everyone would like to see...  I thought maybe the forum names could give me some form of list, but even using that seemed to exclude too many possibilities.

For starters, let's try this.... (remember - for the topics - not the actually specific debates)
  • Aliens, presumed 'extraterrestrial' objects and crafts, Encounters, ideas of extraterrestrial 'diplomacy' and relations
  • The "New" World Order, Sovereignty (national or personal), Global economic subordinations, "Monopolies" as social policy-makers, Global policy creation, Commerce as global force
  • Education, Pedagogy, hierarchies within education, Technocracy, Juris Prudence in theory and practice
  • Cultural distinctions as "problems" of law, 'societies' in society, fraternal orders
  • The practice of obfuscation of history, the 'permanent' record of mankind (or the nation or groups of people)
  • "War," what is it actually 'good' for?  Intents, outcomes, exploitation, resistance
  • Not the "how" but the "why" of "Q" - is it a movement, or another show?
  • Rejected theories... cryptozoology, flat Earth, the Big Bang is a miracle, dark matter or not, creationism, "rules" about people
  • The nature of ghosts, spirits, demons, angels, why they persist
  • Extrasensory perceptions, prediction, projection
  • Religions in contention, opposed, juxtaposed, disharmony
  • How Science is controlled by commerce, progress thwarted by competition, suppressed technologies... repressed technologies
  • Our world... the Earth, living entity, inert object, dynamic or brittle?
  • Bad happenings in government, personal corruption or systemic design flaws?
  • The media world... where is the honesty?  Why can't it be measured?
  • The nature of crime, and the application of punishment... why the disparity?
  • Relationship advice for 'sale'... "Buy my book"
  • Slavery, exploitation, humans as 'objects of consumption'
  • What is "funny" really?  Why are we obsessed with celebrity? Why we consume "the show."
This list only goes to demonstrate how one could get lost in the choosing.
The point of the haphazard list is to offer some ideas to anyone considering suggesting a debate.
As you can see, it would be hard to imagine a topic that would be 'off-base.'

Having stated all this.... you can get specific here... name a specific debate we can consider... as of now the list is small... after a bit of time has passed I will compile them all and offer you a better list of actual debates you've expressed interest in.

Thank you.

I don't want to unduly influence any members responses here, frankly, I'm interested to know the answer myself.

Skip this part if you want to avoid that.

I want to make sure that it is clear... "Political" threads pertaining to the upcoming 2024 elections means "what" exactly?

All I see in the way of examples is garbage like: "Biden is a jerk!" "Trump is a bully!" "Only stupid people will vote for Biden, or Trump!" "My state won't support that fool!" Or "Look at these losers saying that Trump/Biden will win!"  What is there to discuss there?  Are such threads for discussion or just a show of partisanship?  Let's face it, any such threads will be festooned with "media" articles and Press release material... you know the kind... you and I have been reading them for years... 90% propaganda and campaign fodder... can that really work to enlighten anyone?

How about we say... sure you can make that thread here... but you cannot link any source material... we are only interested in your assertions... not some biased reporter or editor, not some utterances from campaign managers and political appointees.  Would that work?

Please, No Politics, No Religion, Just "Beliefs". It would negate so many labels, sides, and promote critical thinking not mud flinging or persecution.

For the debates, I think it would be hard perhaps for some members to argue against their own principles, so allowing two members to choose their sides first seems a fair approach me thinks. That's only a personal opinion and maybe others would disagree if they were open on the subjects at hand from either perspective.

Some subject matter:
"Mobile Phone use and how it has changed human communication and activity for good and bad".
"Packaging and Advertising, how can we reduce the waste and make it more honest?"
"Psychaitry Verses Philosophy for healing minds and hearts".

More to follow.

I have an idea.  Let me know if you think this can work...

There is a standing requirement to have posting privileges in the Debate Forum, you must be a "Fighter."
In order to have that designation, you must participate in a debate.

Why would you want to post in the Debate Forum?

Answer....

Once you are designated a "Fighter"... you can arrange between you and any other "Fighter" to debate any of the listed (soon to come) DI Debate challenges... you can , between you, choose whichever side you wish to represent... OR as long as it is properly coordinated by DI staff,  you can choose your own debate topics...

"Political topics" are acceptable.  Such debates will be contained in the Debate Forum... so no one can troll either of you or spoil the debate, and you work can be seen by all members.

To reiterate, the entire list of topics is also fair game, and each debate topic can be 'revisited' assuming it is all coordinated properly.

However, your first debate here at DI will always be of the sort where you do not 'choose' which "side" you will be arguing.  The debate topic will not be of your choosing unless it is from the list, and you will not be able to spontaneously choose a topic (except from the DI Debate Challenges List.)

That will be how you become a DI Fighter, free to debate at your leisure in the Debate Forum.

Well?... How does that strike you?
