Please Don't Screw This Up
#1
Quote:Yes, a sequel to the 1987 movie Spaceballs, titled Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money, is in development and is scheduled for release in 2027. The sequel will feature the return of Bill Pullman as Lone Starr and Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet. Mel Brooks, who directed the original, is also involved as a producer. The film will be a parody of the ever-expanding Star Wars franchise.

That's honestly pretty much all I have to say. They screwed up Ghost Busters, they've ran the Star Wars thing in the ground and I haven't even bothered to see the last 5 or 6 movies out of the MCU, so...Please...Don't screw this up.

It's rare for a sequel to be as good or better than the original.
Godfather II is the only one to come to mind that did better than the original,
and that was hard to do because the original was really good.

Please tell me the sub-plots aren't fixated on the DEI deficiencies of the universe....
Where suddenly any individual's sexual behavior is the exploited object of exposition.

Go for the money grab... that's with in your reach... and your right...
But please stop changing the tone and feel of classic movies stories to suit today's 'message.'

I think it has a better chance at being good than some other movies said to be in the works. A Barbarella remake comes to mind.

They look to have Star Wars ed it up and take itself way too seriously.

No imagination to make anything new in movies it seems. YouTube is much better for imaginative new stories.  The Starbound HFY channel has lots of stories that would make great movies.

Hollywood has little talent now.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

I checked out the new Barbarella trailer and can see some similarities. I compared it to the original 1968 trailer, and I don't think the new one is going for the campy-sexy angle, but something more serious and dark.

I'd watch it, after the theater run for sure, but not on the big screen when it comes out. I'm not some big fan of that movie, but I like it. Jane Fonda was pretty hot in the 60s, but her politics had many people not liking her, so the original had that stigma attached to it.

It should be called Spaceballs 3: the search for Spaceballs 2

EDIT: No seriously, they have to time travel to when Blockbuster still existed and find the only VHS copy, but it turns out to be Beta...
I was not here.

Yes it has erm.. baggage. But it is a cult classic at sci-fi conventions.

Oh no. I just found out they are planning to remake Forbiden Planet. Now that project is doomed to fail as the original is so great.

No matter how this Spaceballs comes out, it won't be the same without Barf. I hope they don't try to CGI him in.

I can think of a couple more...

Aliens, while different than the original, is on par with Alien.  The Empire Strikes Back is better than the original Star Wars.  Avengers: Infinity War was the the 3rd in the series and the best of them all.  There might be a couple more but you're right, it's really hard to do.

I may have to hand in my geek card for admitting this, but I have never seen the original Spaceballs.   Shocked2

I swear those are the same androids as in "Valerian, and the city....."

Am I mistaken, or are those two universes connected?

You are correct. Same design.

I am getting an impression that the entire movie set is based the Valerian technical background design. It is getting to the point CGI is just AI. No real design work involved. Just tell the AI to make it.

How AI craptastic the future has become.
