"Stand your ground" law come to play in this New Years Eve event.. Can you imagine if this same scenario would have happened in a Democratic Blue state or any place/country where a government wants you to be the victim ..
Quote:On New Year’s Eve, 18-year-old Sarah McKinley sat in her Oklahoma home—newly widowed, holding her 3-month-old baby—when two armed men in bulletproof vests tried to kick in her door.
No neighbors. No police minutes away. Just Sarah, her infant son, and the terrifying sound of her door being beaten down. With a shotgun in one hand, a baby in the other, and 911 on the phone, Sarah had to make a choice: the intruder or her son. When the door finally gave way, she pulled the trigger. One attacker fell dead. The other ran. And the police called it what it was: justified self-defense.
This isn’t theory. It isn’t a “debate stage” soundbite. It’s the Second Amendment in action—the only reason Sarah and her baby lived to tell the story.
? In this video, I break down Sarah McKinley’s story and why it’s a reminder that the Second Amendment isn’t about hunting or sport. It’s about giving even the most vulnerable among us a fighting chance when evil decides tonight’s the night. Sarah McKinley didn’t choose to be a hero. She chose to survive. And because of that choice, her son still has a mother. And even when you do everything right, you can still end up in a legal fight after the smoke clears. That’s why I’m a USCCA member—for the training, preparation, and legal protection that keeps you ready before, during, and after a fight for your life.

I'm a self-defense advocate and I am armed around the homestead. However, I never felt I needed to keep anything ready for use, except when the coyotes had the house surrounded or when the bears came up the driveway.
There was one time when I thought someone (an enemy of mine) was shooting at my home from the road. I grabbed one from the closet and fumbled around getting it ready before I checked out the situation. It was some teenage punk beating on my mailbox but it sounded like .22cal reports. No kid in sight by the time I got to the road, but I saw the damage and some barefoot prints and could tell what happened. Even though I wasn't getting shot at, the lesson here is you don't have time to fumble around while the bullets are flying your way.

They fecked around and found out.
Now that's what i call self-defence, and a woman protecting her house and baby.
Home invasion ticks the box.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

We are having this same discussion in Canada now.
It wasn’t a gun issue though, but an intruder with a crossbow of all things. The homeowner fought back and hospitalized the invader, and has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Assault with a weapon.
All kinds of legal gobbledygook has been thrown around this issue and politicians are jumping on the bandwagon for and against self defense in your own home.
I am from Alberta (the latest issue was in Ontario), and our Premier has literally come out and essentially said FAFO. “If you break into someone’s home looking to steal or harm someone, you get what you deserve…” I agree.
In fact, we have a “Shoot, shovel and shut up “ attitude where I live.
as usual, my 2 pesos…

Here in the UK, we to have the right to self defence in your home, but if you chase the scum bag then it can be deemed assault!! I think the self defence laws need reinforcing.

Weird.
I knew a guy who grew up in Seattle and moved to Georgia back in the 90’s.
The Sheriff dropped in to welcome him to the little town where he moved and asked him if he had a gun. He (being from Seattle) said no. The Sheriff said get one and if someone breaks into your house, shoot them dead. Don’t just wound them. If they are running away and you shoot them, then drag them back into your house before calling us…
I believe it was Georgia, but I could be mistaken. I certainly don’t mean any offense to folks from the south or anywhere else.
I agree that there should be a strong, straight forward rule on self defense. In your home, on your property and for your person and family.

I had an Uncle who was a Judge in Texas tell me the exact same thing..
If the intruder is dead then there is only one story to tell; your story.
