Quote:A pensioner couple have pleaded guilty to racially aggravated assault after a video of them abusing an NHS nurse in a Yorkshire park went viral.
Fyona Bairstow, 72, and Michael Bairstow, 77, accosted Apple Moorhouse in Manor Heath Park, Halifax, in August, following a dispute over their dog being off its lead.
Bradford Magistrates’ Court heard that Michael Bairstow told Ms Moorhouse to “go back to your dinghy” while making swimming gestures. As she tried to walk away, Fyonna Bairstow pulled her ponytail.
The pair, from Shelf, Halifax, both admitted racially aggravated assault against Ms Moorhouse at the court on Wednesday.
Michael Bairstow also pleaded guilty to assaulting a second woman who intervened.
I hope they throw the book at them and jail the pair.
Absolutely shocking, shameful display, and from an elderly couple no less.
Directed towards an NHS nurse and her family.
The hatred and venomous look that old woman has in her eyes is palpable.
And all because they were asked to place their dog on a lead, which is a common courtesy in most public parks.

I remember this.
They both look mentally ill.
Their anger and "evil" behavior tell me that they are sick.
I wonder what happen to them because I am sure they weren't born that way.

I'm apt to ponder that they both watch a lot of GB News.
And you're correct, people are not born racist.
They are conditioned that way.
I wonder if one of them had a stroke or a heart attack.
Would they choose to act in a similar manner.
Toward the very same people there to keep them alive?
Probably not, eh?

In my state here having your dog on a leash is the law.
And picking up any poop left behind is as well.

It's not the law here yet for a leash, as far as I'm aware.
But it makes sense for obvious reasons in a public park.
As to the poop, yeah, decent people pick that up.
And if you get caught leaving it lying, you can get fined by law.
The kicker here is that they clearly chose to place the dog on a lead eventually.
Before carrying out the racist rant and assault.
They could have just chosen to say, "Sorry for the inconvenience, have a nice day" put the dog on the lead, and gotten on with their own.

Haven't heard of this case but despicable behaviour from them.
I think in this and other cases of abuse or violence against NHS staff that perpetrators should have their right to NHS healthcare revoked - apart from maybe cases of severe mental illness, psychosis, head injury or dementia etc where someone may be violent due to accute health needs/what they're recieving treatment for rather than an active/lucid choice to attack staff.

And by the looks of things, they have shown no remorse whatsoever.
I imagine social work reports will be in the works before sentencing.
As you probably know.
Showing no remorse when they are interviewed by social work and asked why they chose to act in such a manner usually results in a recommendation of a custodial sentence.
Hell of an age for judges to be having to issue short, sharp, shocks.
But i would not be surprised if they are given 18 months apiece.
Given the racial assault charges.
The only thing is it will be a hell of a shame for their poor animal, who probably loves them both profusely.

They plead guilty because they know at their age they are very unlikely to get jail time. They'll get a fine and probation, but I'm betting that's about it.
There are some elderly people who believe they can get away with just about anything because of their age.

I think they pleaded guilty because of the video evidence against them.
It's the lack of remorse, David.
See, when you are in the doc, and the judge is looking at you over those spectacles and daft wig, trying to decide your future.
It simply does not pay to show no remorse.
And if those social work reports go poorly.
And/or the fella chooses to make an example of the racist pair.
Who im sure, are completely aware by now that the person who they made the attack on worked for the NHS and is a British citizen.
It is not beyond the realm of possibility that they will choose the custodial option.
They will jail old people if they think they are taking the piss or refuse to recognize the law.
Keeping in mind, most people don't get to retire over here now until they're nearly 70.

Called it.
They got 8 weeks each.
Granted, thats a very short, sharp shock, but given their extended age...
Hopefully, a couple of months behind bars will teach them the error of their ways.
Im not holding my breath, all the same, after all we can't teach pork
