Panasonic resurrects its founder

Panasonic’s AI copy of company founder ‘scarily’ similar to him

Quote:OSAKA--Panasonic Holdings Corp. showcased an artificial intelligence replica of Konosuke Matsushita, the company’s founder, that was described as eerily similar to the original when he was alive.

At a news conference, an image of Matsushita appeared on a laptop screen. When a user talked to the AI, it generated responses that Matsushita might have said....

The real Konosuke Matsushita died in 1989.

One of the founder’s family members reportedly said the AI “scarily resembles” Matsushita himself when he was alive.

Since the number of employees who have met Matsushita in person is decreasing, the company intends to use the AI to pass on Matsushita’s management philosophies to the next generation.

The company will also use the AI to make company training programs and improve it so that it can give business management advice.

I can't believe that anyone competent would accept the words of an AI mimicking a person as "corporate leadership."

Well... I can believe it... but it is grotesquely stupid, in my opinion.

But then, this might be another gimmick to encourage to accept AI as a "person."

An integral part of being human is being mortal....  without that little proviso, a "personality" can't help but become a toxic presence.

Whose to say corporations and/or TPTB aren't already using AI

Rumors are Obama asked AI if Joe Biden would be elected over Trump way back in December 2023.

AI said not unless Trump is incapacitated.

After July 13th Barrack asked if Joe Biden could beat Donald Trump.

AI said I know and you know the answer you've been elected President 2 times, you know the grueling grind of a campaign, you know Joe Biden will lose.

So Barrack asked AI which potential Democratic candidate would America believe was most like himself.

AI said....
His mind was not for rent to any god or government, always hopeful yet discontent. Knows changes aren't permanent, but change is ....

Isn't that what "corporate personhood" is all about, already?

I don't think so... that personhood is only for the benefit of "owning" things... and 'free (money) speech."

I don't think there is a real corporation "personality."

It depends on the human "owner(s)."

I do wonder if an AI personage running a company is compatible with existing corporate law. Some kind of board structure that guarantees executive power delegation? Sigh. Why do I get the idea Musk has thought of this a lot already?

The idea of a synthetic personality running a corporation seems sort of weird in America, where we like to deconstruct tycoons like Musk, Gates, Zuckerberg, etc. But perhaps not as much in Japan. Iron rice bowl and all that. But it might work in America, too -- after all, our political icons are largely synthetic constructs of focus groups and policy think-tanks already, and people seem to enjoy that.
