I think most of these eastern European countries have been burdened with old  USSR/Russian corruption and struggled to break free from Putin's influence. A few like Poland have been great examples and the others have taken heed. I think the people have had enough of autocrats pretending to be democratic.

He's generally seen as reformist/anti-corruption rather than fitting neatly into US style party labels.
