This woman, who self identifies as a non binary turtle, is on the Oregon Mental Health Board that advises the Oregon Health Administrator and Governor on the state’s provision of mental health services, including through investigations and reviews of current practices.

Just the kind of person who you would want to make rational recommendations and decisions for the mental health administration of the state and for the governor / Sarcasm.    YIKES!   Whoever appointed her or voted for her to be on this board is just as messed up as she is.

A member of a state panel advising the director of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) on best practices and policies in mental health identifies as a “turtle.”
 
JD Holt, who also goes by “JD Terrapin” on Facebook, is one of roughly two dozen “consumers” on the OHA’s Consumer Advisory Council (OCAC).
 
“Hello everybody, it’s JD. I use they, them and turtle for my pronouns. I’m in the Springfield-Eugene area and I get to be part of the council,” Holt said during a Dec. 20 virtual OCAC meeting.
 
Gender Wiki, a website that documents the list of non-binary genders, describes “turtlegender,” sometimes called “tortoisegender,” as “a xenogender identity in which one feels a gendered connection to turtles.”
 
“One may feel their gender is replaced by a ‘turtle,’ or their gender is best described with the use of turtles,” the site reads.

Either way ... someone thinking that is what they are has metal health issues themselves that should be cleaned up before they are looked at as if they are experts and should be listened to.

Example .. someone with schizophrenia that is under control would be fine to be on an advisory board, but someone who has schizophrenia that is acute and not under control shouldn't be on an advisory board for the governor.

At some point I began to wonder if 'self-identity' is a suitable measure of sanity.  Ultimately, it only manifests socially in any meaningful way.

To lay claim to a personal identity (and project it) is something almost everyone does, no? 

Contextually speaking, making an assertion as to the exceptional nature (or singular essence) of one's "identity" can be considered 'self-expression.'

But public office is a service, ideally involving the consent of the served.  They have more than just a voice, they have the privilege of choice... assuming they can actually manage to exercise it.

I have no idea what is going on over there, to me it's all bizarre.  Why are you picking on the turtle lady, it was done all over and exported to the rest of the world?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this.  I think it's utter insanity...but what do I know?

Here's how I rationalize it.  Generally speaking, someone is either male or female at birth.  1 or 0.  Look down, you either have something there or you don't.  That is BINARY.  It's also called biology.  Identifying as anything else is psychological. 

A human being that identifies as non-human?  I would call that a person who needs help.  What makes it worse are the liberal idiots trying to normalize this type of behavior.  The fact she was elected to the board only proves they're succeeding.

I thought so too ... but nope.
Last year I started a thread at ATS about a woman who identifies as a dog.
I asked the liberals on the thread if she really was a dog or not.
They wouldn't give a definitive answer
cuz' according to them, you are what you self identify as.

So ... liberals ... is this woman really a turtle?
That's what she self identifies as.  So it must be true, right?
