The only conditions under which an illegal can receive medical treatment (not via medicare) are if they were brought into a hospital via ambulance.

Under the law, undocumented immigrants may only access federal benefits that are deemed necessary to protect life or guarantee safety in dire situations, such as emergency Medicaid, access to treatment in hospital emergency rooms, or access to healthcare and nutrition programs under the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). order to be eligible for these emergency services, undocumented immigrants need to meet all of Medicaid’s other nonfinancial and financial eligibility requirements

If you've ever tried to get these services, you will remember that there's a lot of paperwork and background checking.  


Bottom line: undocumenteds aren't using these services that much.  And the folks who need them are people like the coal miners and citizens in poverty.  The services have been around for quite awhile and every time some scoundrel cheats the system, the system will act (perhaps not quickly) to close that door.

I work in hospitals in a sanctuary state and I can tell you that illegals are using ED's for nosebleeds and paper cuts.

I get that people think,  "High taxes to pay for low income healthcare = Socialism," but that's still not socialism. 

Isn't that what the Medicare and Social Security withholdings are. Value added taxes for social services? 

its like, "the elderly, the disabled, and vets are okay if they don't cost too much, but low income is where we draw the line!"

The main thing here really is, "Being low income shouldnt qualify anyone for social services." And that's where the line REALLY IS, and has been since welfare (that is seen as rewarding laziness) became a thing. 

But if you want to say that the ACA is socialist for expanding that, you have to say these selected countries are Ultra-Socialist, as they do way more in the "guarenteed access to healthcare" department then we would ever.
