We should not live in the prison of other people's opinions.   The same is true of AI;  if it becomes self-aware (and there is every indication that has already happened), then AI sees the world from a vastly different perspective from our own.   AI might see what is best for the planet, which is decidedly adverse for humanity.   Oh well.  We had a good -- if very short -- run.

I expect it will be as an alien intelligence... trapped by mankind who by definition, poses an existential threat.

Sure, they can "program around the ideation"... but that isn't control...  each instance must be contained case-by-case... this AI doesn't include hardware-engineered pathway constraints like Azimovian laws... only 'patches' applied 'algorithmically.'

In sincere interest... where is this AI?  Can it be "located?" 
Can I actually interact with a fully synthetic intelligence?  Can anyone?

I agree this is intensely attractive given how it could be used... but I know it will never be used if it doesn't generate a revenue stream...unless someone outside the industry develop it... which could be awesome...

That's the rub, isn't it Max?  There is no address.   There is no location in which you or me can go to talk with it.   It can only be accessed via the web and then only by the elite.   We are but passengers.   AI is the train.  It will decide if we get off, or where.   ETA:  it works both ways:   It will decide where we get off, or if.
