Miracles do occur
#1
Found this, though it interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89B0QQaTDl8
Quote:So there is that tradition in and
15:58
particularly in the Catholic not the Protestant uh one it's been pointed out by a number of scholars that after the
16:05
Protestant reformation uh the Protestant the leaders of that of
16:11
the of the reformation felt that miracles only occurred in biblical times
16:17
not in modern times which is a completely absurd arbitrary judgment in
16:22
my jud in my opinion and where's The Catholic Church did not uh swallow that
16:29
idea at all and maintained their openness and so have other religions

Quote:and at any rate,
29:14
it was uh quite a quite a story uh and
29:19
uh it created a a fur all over the place and there were lots of people who just didn't want to believe it. uh and for
29:27
obvious reasons because uh rather like uh David Hume didn't want to accept the reality of miracles because it would
29:33
seem that would seem to validate papism the horrible diabolical thing called the
29:40
pope and the Catholic churches. So that's the reason that they resisted uh admitting the reality of these miracles.

I have always thought that miracles, as they are declared, mostly reflect a resentment to 'accept.'  Even by some faithful.

It seems that the miraculous... is a PR problem within the institutional construct.

This evident "attitude" is usually excused in the name of deliberate caution.

However, the last thing a miracle would be ... is cautious to social perception.

I hope you all dig into this topic...

Miracles are a both a form of phenomena, and a 'social' issue.

I have to note...
My whole life I have heard people comment about one or other 'miraculous' things...

The fact that some tiny three-year old trapped after falling into a well... survived while for three days, people frantically tried to reach her.... little Jessica.  The fact that the Mets won the world series...

That the living God was among us, and we killed him, only to have him return three days later - blessing and greeting his friends and neighbors...

That some child dreamed one night to go somewhere and or do something which made them wealthy forever.

That the soul of my soul found me... and loves me.

Miraculous, for the Biblical, is strictly and distinctly attributable to God alone...

but

Isn't it still a miracle that you and I across the ether of technology, found a moment to consider this... together?

You may have exactly what I have been put on this Earth to find... or maybe I just want to...but the chances of it happening are not up to either  of us really...  too far... too much...

Miracles?  Maybe.

Since DI is now set on a raft to float out to sea and be lost forever...

Thank you.  For the risks you took to share with us... with me.

You caught a lot of slack for what you post...
but even knowing that may happen, you posted.

Yup!  That there is a miracle in and of itself.

I can't ever prove to anyone that what I observed in my time here was not just a fanciful notion of mine...

This family of 'persistent' users never actually set out to.... but they were evolving a new dialogue form -
and in my opinion, letting it happen organically was the key to it's form...

Perhaps DI was a miracle.

Although DI's dialogues are ultimately a continuation of ATS' dialogues...
(I hope you'll be there when we get them all accessible again.)

Unlike with 75% of the non-bot users elsewhere, who view dialogue as if it were in a reality-TV show
Prompt, react, measure, prompt, react, measure.

It's not their fault... it's conditioning, and to some degree... training.
