Mexico the real Narco state
#1
A Marine friend of mine once said, " We need to put our military on the southern borders and have them move south cleaning out the cartels and crooks. Maybe stop around the Panama canal which would be a real border we could defend."

There are no doubt many Mexican nationals who would appreciate the helping hand... No not all as those who depend on the drug trade would not be happy. I met one of the body guards for some big wig in the Gulf Cartel; nice unassuming guy who exercised/ran every day and would not eat red meat??

The head of security for Los Zetas was a cousin of a girl I used to know. She grew up with him and said he was always very nice to the family. He had only been shot in the leg " just once " in all the years with Los Zetas ..

With the bought and paid for politicians and law enforcement on both sides of the border maybe my Marine friend way back when had the answer ?

The Mexican Marine commander in Matamoros, Mexico  was receiving a monthly payment from one of the Cartels (long time ago so I do not remember which cartel it was only the were just about shutting Matamoros down.. If you drove a bus, owned a business, or anything else to include being a real estate agent  they wanted their share of your money... No pay and no life for you; they were always smart as all you have to do is kill a few and the rest get the idea..... So a new Cartel wanted to move into Matamoros and offered the Marine Major more monthly income if he would remove the current Cartel leadership.. Tony the Terrible was his name if I remember correctly so with two APCs one with a (I was told) Quad 50 cal machine gun; to me that is anti-aircraft fire power ??) and over 100 Mexican troops they hit Tony's hacienda killing him and a few of his pistoleros... Not all were killed as two escaped and went to Houston, Texas as they carried duel citizenship.

Most people really have no idea just how strong and entrenched the Cartels and underworld of crime and dirty deeds are in the world.

7 and 13 year old kids were killed execution style along with their mom and dad put in plastic bags and left knowing the smell would finally make someone notice.

I always figured TPTB do not want any outside law enforcement messing with the way things are set up in Chicago as it has been a major cartel drug distribution center for as long as I can remember.  Looks like the rats are going to have a lot to squeal about if Trump carries out his clean up of that  cesspool of government sanctioned drugs and crime.

Quote:Alleged Leader of Sinaloa Cartel Faction Indicted in Chicago on Terrorism, Drug Trafficking, and Firearm Charges

A federal grand jury has indicted an alleged leader of a violent faction of the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico on terrorism, drug, and firearm charges, including engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise.
According to the superseding indictment returned yesterday in the Northern District of Illinois, Oscar Manuel Gastelum Iribe, 50, of Sinaloa, Mexico, also known as El Musico, directed the importation of large quantities of fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, and other drugs — at times in shipments of hundreds or thousands of kilograms — into the United States on behalf of the Beltran Leyva faction of the Sinaloa Cartel, a designated foreign terrorist organization.
“As alleged, Oscar Manuel Gastelum Iribe led a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel that flooded the United States with fentanyl, cocaine, and heroin and used murder and intimidation to protect its profits,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew R. Galeotti of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division. “The Sinaloa Cartel has been designated a foreign terrorist organization because of the kinds of crimes announced today. This indictment further demonstrates that the Criminal Division will use every tool at its disposal to target cartel leaders, including by holding them accountable for acts of terrorism against our country.”

Quote:United Cartels PANIC After Trump’s DEA Intercepts $100M Narcotics Shipment In Tennessee Trump’s DEA just pulled off a massive bust in Tennessee, intercepting a $100 million narcotics shipment tied to the United Cartels. This kind of seizure doesn’t just take drugs off the streets—it rips directly into cartel profits and shakes their supply chains across the border. The panic is real as cartel leaders scramble to cover their losses, silence informants, and figure out how U.S. intelligence traced the operation. Tennessee wasn’t picked by accident either—it’s a key corridor for cartel distribution into the Midwest and East Coast. With this takedown, Trump’s DEA is sending a loud message: every route is vulnerable, every deal is under watch, and even the most secure shipments can be flipped overnight.

47,000 pounds of Coke has been taken away from the Cartels in just Tennessee; just say no ain't working !

They need to be hit. They need to be hit so hard they'll never know they've been hit, as they're dead. Dead Afghan style, Tora Bora style. Level every house they have with bunker busters. An elimination so severe that there isn't enough to scoop up into a bag.
War doesn't decide who's right, just who's left.

For the Mexican cartels?

So by "Afghan Style" you mean bring in private mercenaries to protect the poppy fields so they could secure future revenue for the privatized US prisons they also run?  allegedly..

And you can still buy your crack, smack, and bitch in Hollywood.

As for specific targets, I don't think Mexico would appreciate bombing the the border neighborhoods like that. A bunker buster in Zona Norte isn't a good look..

That is a lot of owned buildings on each side of the fence too.  Youd be bombing equal parts the house in TJ where the tunnel begins and the Buy-4-Less Outlet store on The USA side where it ends.

The Sinaloa Cartel is a Mexican criminal organisation based in Mexico.

It has nothing inherently to do with Muslims or Islam.

And i think you might find major drug dealers and distributors.

Don't really care much about the simplistic left vs right mentality you assume wag's the Dog's tale...

Unfortunately, they win their hearts and minds another way.

Cartel members are flat-out capitalists. Full stop. They are involved for themselves, they are not there for the greater good.

They are all for the “flash cars and women”. They may be helping family out. But that’s as community minded as they get.

Yeah, it's power and sheer terror that is their stock and trade and tools of the job, well, those and addiction...

And the only colour they care about is green.

As to politics, they will pay any politician/alphabet agency willing to enable them or look the other way.

They don't care which side of the political aisle a person cares to stroll, or pretends to walk down.

As long as nobody shits in anyone else's cornflakes and everyone gets paid...

Politics is, quite frankly, beneath them.

Conversely, that's exactly how big businesses and corporations operate, so... Lol

It's not just Mexico.

The commonality of all these criminal groups is that the world's biggest illegal drug market is the USA.

The cartels and other illegal drugs purveyors are just parasites.

If the US needs to clean up, it should start with the illegal drugs distribution and use within its borders.

One way to break the profitability of illegal drugs would be to have a system that provides assured pure drugs at prices that were lower than the street drugs prices, to registered patients under prescription and medical administration.

If the addicts and users could get the drugs at a reasonable price, with assurances that they aren't cut with all sorts of poisons, and that medical staff would be on hand to give safe doses and that could administer treatments such as naloxone, should there be adverse reactions. Why would anyone go to the more expensive and dangerous vendor?

It isn't a perfect solution, but it minimizes harm while breaking the profitability of criminals. And all the existing policing and prosecution for the illegally sourced drugs could stay in place.

The existing drug enforcement isn't being entirely effective.

And part of the issue is that people have chronic pain which because of the price of regular medical care, they are forced to self-treat and then they become addicted. That needs to be addressed, too.

Prohibition didn't work for alcohol, and the current criminalization and current drug enforcement policing isn't enough on its own.

Sending troops into other countries to clear out the malefactors will have too much collateral (on both sides) to be a practical solution and it is only an extension of the current modus operandi, which isn't working. As a possible solution, it provably does not reduce harm.

Realist approaches that treat drug issues as medical problems have shown effectiveness, so what is holding legislators back?

Perhaps everyone is making money from the current situation and don't want to "rock the boat", and perhaps the biggest narco-state is actually the USA?
