Memories From the Future

Interesting article on precognition.

Quote:It’s not hard to understand precognition,” says Mossbridge, Senior Distinguished Fellow in Human Potential at the Center for the Future Mind and founder of the Mossbridge Institute. “It’s just hard to believe for people who haven’t experienced it. We don’t understand how time works. Even physicists are admitting they really don’t know how it works. We are stuck on this idea that, if you’re truly scientific, you are going to think about time linearly, but is it really linear? A lot of the resistance to ideas about precognition and psychic phenomena is about fear—the fear of the unknown or the fear that things aren’t the way they appear to be.”

What happens in the silent periods between ticks?

Quote:While EEGs focus on activity that happens in the millisecond time domain, the NIMS team studied discrete time regions, from nanoseconds to seconds, discovering 12 discrete time regions where brain activities are significant. When they used the DDG device to detect activity on their artificial organic brain replica 24/7 for over a year, and on multiple human subjects, they concluded that most cognitive, perceptive, and emotional bursts occur around 200–700 nanoseconds, not milliseconds, as scientists have long believed. These are what Hameroff calls “bing” moments in a vibrational wave phase and they are followed by a silent period.

The flue is making me not cognizant, but I wanted to start a thread on precog, so here is a poem from Emily Dickinson

This Consciousness that is aware
Of Neighbors and the Sun
Will be the one aware of Death
And that itself alone

Is traversing the interval
Experience between
And most profound experiment
Appointed unto Men—

How adequate unto itself
Its properties shall be
Itself unto itself and none
Shall make discovery.

Adventure most unto itself
The Soul condemned to be—
Attended by a single Hound
Its own identity.

Change occurs between the ticks. That is a clue that the universe isn't on the up an up.

Einstein had an analogy for time as sitting in the middle of the roof of a moving train.    Looking adjacent to the train was the present as it moved and changed.   Looking backward parallel to the train was the past.  Looking ahead toward the engine was the future.

Perhaps when we are truly evolved we will be able to sense or see all three;  I hope we won't have lost everything that makes us uniquely human.

"Between ticks..."

Perhaps we need to drop our view of time as being "digital", ie. "On/Off" ,  "Now/Then", " Tick/Tock...

And begin to experience time in its true, "analog" , nature?

Time is  not a sequence of events, but, rather, a continum.

I like Emily, she reminds me of me!

you get on off with analogue also, and a whole range of values in between.  waves can cancel or amplify each other, standing waves are interesting.

All the other properties are interesting also.

on the contrary it is boredom, boredom is the tick between the tocks, the impetus that makes the nexxt moment happen, if all were also interesting it would be eternal in the now, boredom is the fire beneath th emonkey

can you stand standing waves better cause clanker dont surf

The perfect stillness and period of no-time is in between the troughs of the waveform.
It is after exhaling and after inhaling. The small period of stillness where all is suspended.
The universe breathes with us.

An animated discussion with Jessica Utts, Walter von Lucadou, Roger Nelson, and a handful of others has lasted late into the night, about the statistics of remote viewing and precognition. The subtlest computations cannot distinguish between these two scenarios of psychic functioning: it may not be possible to tell whether viewers are aware of the future validation of the tests or accessing the site psychically.

Similar statistical ambiguities exist in psychokinesis, making the possible role of consciousness in quantum mechanics a very murky subject: if I observe event X, and this forces you to observe X as well (for instance, the spin of a particle,) does that necessarily imply instantaneous communication between us? Doesn't that mean instead that you and I are not separate minds, and that there is only one form of consciousness? Perhaps we are both simply selecting data from a universal, timeless state vector, later inventing the history of the universe that leads to that particular set of observations?
