I’ve actually been thinking about building my own... not humanoid like Elon’s, but something smaller, like an R2-D2 that can see, talk, and zip around on wheels using an open-weight AI model. They already sell these things on Amazon, but I rather build my own... as I don't trust those ChaGPT type robots...
It might end up looking more like trash can on wheels... maybe more WALL-E than R2-D2, but once my homemade robot’s running, he’s clocking in for me. Hopefully HR won’t notice the wheels.
You should call it AvAitar ; )

I did see a speech by Elon saying he wanted to fabricate up to one million robots a year ( projected cost per Bot $20,000) as he figures the Robot business will be bigger than Space-X or the Tesla car business put together... If the propaganda coming out of Chinese Robotics is even half way true he will have his work cut out for him..

If you look at Nvidia's market cap, there are two interesting trates.
1. It represents 16%~ of the US GDP.
2. Their market cap would put it behind only two nations in GDP, the US and China.
Those two stats create a whole host of questions IMO. Does a formerly niche gaming hardware company deserve to beat almost all countries in their GDP? Also, if AI is successful as the market is pricing it, what happens to jobs when the biggest champions of the industry celebrate replacing human tasks?
I think those are the most glaring and immediately concerning points, but once you zoom out you have to wonder what happens when a good portion of the world's decisions are run by something that lacks the human element or capacity for nuance.

The invention of the;
Wheel
Cotton Gin
Tractor
Automobile
Television
Radio
etc
Took away jobs at the time.
This is no different, in my humble opinion.
You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people's opinions.

That’s very interesting and new to me, I suppose it seen as the new frontier and if your not up to speed you could go bust.

[I believe this is why key players have talked about UBI being available for everyone regardless, BASIC being the notable word in it.

Indeed, though it will make better judgements regarding something’s, won’t get tired or emotional etc.. but it’s perceived qaulities could well be its flaws, at some point all the various functions and operations it did would need to be managed for inadvertent harms elsewhere where it was doing good in another. But who could do that? Only AI in real time.

Of all the people who don't fully comprehend what's going on (which is most of the population), a small faction shrugs it off as conspiracy theory, another faction thinks it's no big deal and the rest are completely clueless
