"“Brendan Carr, the so-called Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, has engaged in the corrupt abuse of power,” top House Democrats said in a joint statement released by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) on the social platform X. “He has disgraced the office he holds by bullying ABC, the employer of Jimmy Kimmel, and forcing the company to bend the knee to the Trump administration.”"

This can be thought of as a constructive dismissal, which can be treated as an involuntary termination under the law.

"Netizens are ready to back Jimmy Kimmel if he sues ABC and Nexstar
A large group of people believes that Jimmy Kimmel should take legal action against ABC and Nexstar over charges of 'Unconstitutional Coercion, Wrongful Termination, and Violation of The First Amendment.' Netizens claimed that commenting on sensitive issues humorously was part of his job as a TV show host, and even his contract mentioned that. Termination over allegations of insensitive comments was an attack on his right to 'free speech', as per them. They also noted that he should join forces with Stephen Colbert and sue the wrongdoers."

Will Jimmy Kimmel Sue ABC, Nexstar Over Charlie Kirk Controversy? Netizens 'Stand With Him'

I'm sure that gofundme will raise tens of dollars.....hahaha

Unless he specifically negotiated around it in his contract, would be interested to know if he did or not, California still has at-will employment clauses for celebrity contracts. Even if he had, his contract was set to expire in 2026 and he would be hard pressed to prove a billion dollars in loss from early termination of his contract. If he sues, and lord knows he probably will, I would speculate he would get a couple million, maybe a year salary. Which according to most sources online, easy to look up if you ask google a simple question, seems to be around 15-20 million a year.

 BREAKING:

Jimmy Kimmel was planning on DOUBLING DOWN and ATTACKING MAGA
(again) before he got SUSPENDED  ABC

Executives told Kimmel to go on-air and APOLOGIZE… but instead, he had wrote a “VERY HOT” monologue, “taking aim at MAGA”

Disney said “We can’t have him go on the air tonight” — and they YANKED him from the AIR

Little Jimmy thought he was bigger than MICKEY MOUSE  … but really he’s just BAD for BUSINESS
His mind was not for rent to any god or government
Always hopeful yet discontent, knows changes aren't permanent
But change is

I too am very curious what's in his employment contract.

He had also made comments in the past that this last three year contract would probably be his last.

I know we will likely never see his actual contract but I bet it's not worth a billion dollars, hell he himself is only worth about 5% of that much. He'd be hard pressed to convince anyone his settlement should be anywhere near that.

He is now posting juvenile memes to celebrate the suspension of Kimmel.

"Posting memes"? You mean the reply he gave pseudo-journalist Brian Stelter in private message, which Stelter got butthurt about and posted to Twitter?

Or are you talking about the actual posts in his timeline?

Was Kimmel fired?
No.

Was his show cancelled?
No.

Is Kimmel still being paid?
Yes.

How can Kimmel sue for wrongful termination if he wasn’t terminated?
Please tell us non lawyers how that works, counselor.

You are most likely right, but that is the # they are throwing out there.
