Ignore Button
#1
Just curious as to what the 'ignore' button does. We had a similar thing on ATS yonks ago. I never did use it though. Does it prevent someone seeing one's post and vice versa?

Hiya midicon,

For the sake of science, I tried it with you.

After adding you to my ignore list, here are the results:

- I can see your thread titles in the forum listings;

- Clicking on the thread brings up this notice...

So, it blocks me from seeing, willingly or inadvertently, your threads.

- Whilst you were on ignore, I couldn't see your posts in other threads, but there is the override option to "show this post"...

Finally, it looks like I wouldn't be able to receive direct messages from you, as stated in the ignore list control panel...

The only thing I don't know is if you are made aware of my actions. Can you let us know if you received a notification that you were added (and later removed) from my ignore list?

If not, then I assume that my threads and posts would not be blocked for you automatically. I think you would have to ignore me purposefully.

Thanks Encia! It was kind of you to go to all that trouble! I can see your posts and threads when I click on your details and see your reply to me. I have received no notification though.
I wonder if you can see this reply.

ETA...just re-read your post and you took me off the ignore list. I was curious about that. It might be then that you could be on someone's ignore list and you wouldn't know and they wouldn't see your posts.

I was just curious. I would never ignore anyone lol.

Ok, no problem.

Yes, I removed you from my ignore list as soon as I did the test, so I didn't really give you time to see if the action is automatically reciprocal. However, you confirm that you didn't receive a specific notification, so I think my actions are kept private - for my eyes only.

I don't know how a thread I made made it here but if anyone has me "ignored" fine as its up to you. I never used "ignore" either here or on ATS regardless of how frosty a discussion will get or go.

Just an FYI

LOL, don't worry, it was an experiment to see what would happen if I put midicon on ignore. Your thread just happened to be the first I came across in which midicon had replied.

You need to click on the member's name to bring up their profile. The red "Add to ignore list" button is in the top right-hand corner of the profile page.

To see the status of your buddy/ignore list then go to your own profile's user panel and click buddy/ignore list in the left-hand column.

Me neither Waterglass. I don't know what you mean by a thread you made.

If you click on my name it takes you to my page and it says 'add to buddy list or 'add to ignore list'.
