Quote:Bitcoin's price does not fluctuate solely because of the American dollar (USD). While the USD plays a significant role—Bitcoin's price is predominantly quoted in USD, and it often shows an inverse correlation with the US Dollar Index (DXY), meaning Bitcoin tends to rise when the dollar weakens and fall when it strengthens—this relationship is far from the only driver.

Over the past five years, this correlation has fluctuated between -0.4 and -0.8 (on a scale where -1 is perfect inverse movement), indicating it's influential but inconsistent and not deterministic.
Bitcoin's volatility stems from a complex interplay of supply and demand dynamics, market sentiment, external events, and structural factors inherent to the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Unlike fiat currencies pegged to governments or central banks, Bitcoin is decentralized and operates on a fixed supply of 21 million coins, making it highly sensitive to shifts in adoption, speculation, and global perceptions.

This leads to extreme price swings—sometimes 10% or more in a single day—that far exceed those of traditional assets like stocks or gold.
True "sole" causation would imply Bitcoin is pegged to the dollar, which it's explicitly not.

As the market matures with more institutional involvement and clearer regulations, volatility may decrease, but for now, it's a multifaceted asset driven by global speculation and innovation as much as currency dynamics.

and by "moving" I mean... clickety-clack on the keyboard...
"Harumph-ing" over the phone... followed by a dip in the tub.

USD is down around 10% in the last year.
I think market sentiment is just tightening up. It's happening in the stock market too.

A friend of mine told me a crypto to buy that is about to explode. I bought some and it has gone into a negative explosion.
When something explodes, it means there is nothing left. So your friend didn't technically lie to you.

I make my own hummus:
3 garlic cloves
1/2 cup parsley
2 scallions
3 cups cooked chickpeas
6 tbsp tahini
6 tbsp lemon juice
4 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
Use a food processor. Mince garlic, scallions, and parsley, then blend the rest. Add water as necessary to get desired thickness. Season with cyan pepper and cumin if you want. Enjoy!
