How is the Government shut-down affecting you?

No it doesn't. Here's what it has to say about SS:

Quote:During a government shutdown, essential services and federal benefits continue to operate, and that includes Social Security and Medicare. You’ll continue to receive your standard Social Security and Medicare payments.
Though payments will continue as usual, staffing and certain services may be impacted during the shutdown. If you need to access Social Security or Medicare customer service, the response time could be slow because of reduced staffing. Plus, with fewer employees on staff through the shutdown, new applications might face longer processing times.

Absolutely nothing about delayed payments.

I'm in California.  A Trump target.

Not sure how Trump's and Newsome's tug-a-war will play out.

Gavin Newsom Issues Ultimatum To Colleges Over Trump Deal:
California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday warned he would strip “billions” in state funding from any university that signs onto a Trump administration compact, which ties priority access to federal dollars to the adoption of conservative campus policies.

"California universities that bend to the will of Donald Trump and sign this insane “compact” will lose billions in state funding — IMMEDIATELY. California will not bankroll schools that sign away academic freedom," Newsom said in a post on X.:  https://www.newsweek.com/gavin-newsom-is...l-10821710

Actually, you're the one trying to make a big deal about it.

All I said is I received it.  It is government and I can imply that it could be affected -- because it is government -- in a government shut down.

I DO NOT trust this administration in any way shape or form.

Don't count your chickens.

Oh I see where you are going with this..."the response time could be slow due to reduced staffing". So how do you interpret that to mean with regards to people getting their money on time?

Yes, your current administration tends to take on a just do it now attitude, then not apologize afterwards.

Anything can happen.

Your quote is in reference to customer service not SS recipients getting their checks.

I interpret it without sensationalism.

I have automatic deposit -- I wasn't really worried.  Well, maybe I took a deep breath when I checked.

I just DO NOT TRUST -- this administration at all.

Well, good luck and I hope cooler heads will prevail and compromises can be reached.

This is what you said…

“My social security check arrived on time. I'm OK this month.”

Stop acting like your check might be delayed.
Your check has never been delayed due to a shutdown.
Nobody you know has ever had their check delayed by a shutdown.
Not even the longest one which lasted over a month.
Never ever ever.
You know this.
All the false fear mongering and emotional blackmail doesn’t ever help your argument.
Your credibility hits are self induced.

Also, I have no chickens to count because I’m generation X.
After the boomers run through it, do you think I’ll even get scraps of what I’ve paid into and been promised?
Hopefully a little perspective will help you.
Be grateful it’s reliable and you even have it.

Fun Fact: You’re in Cali, did you know you can get additional SS income from an ex husband?
It might be worth a few extra hundred a month in your pocket.
You should ‘check’ it out.
