This video is a reupload from the original creator Gnostic Talk.
I've heard of this before. This world is a trap to contain your soul. The Arhcons. Good as countless other concepts. makes sense.
Quote:Archons in Gnosticism are believed to be celestial beings responsible for creating and maintaining the physical universe, and are seen as obstacles to spiritual enlightenment. They are often depicted as powerful, malevolent, and deceitful beings that try to keep humanity trapped in the physical world.
I always try to stay assured. Broadcasting my optimism to any evil Archons that may be lurking. Starving them and wasting their time for kicks. Them, trying to feed off my emotions like parasites. Knowing eventually the Karma will come for any self made enemies I may encounter.

Tibetan Buddhists have an instruction book on this (NB: PDF).

Souls?
I don't think those exist.
Nor do I think obsessive conscious attachments taken to your grave light a new candle of scripted recidivism in the next life.
And I especially don't buy an evil god Demiurge creates a false reality to trap souls forever in lower material forms... *eyeroll*.
People define the soul as "an immaterial, distinct, and often immortal part of a human that carries consciousness, identity, and individuality."
But... but... but... Mr. Religious Man, Sir, if people have these everlasting essences of self and identity, what's up with persistent vegetative states? Is the soul braindead and on a feeding tube too?
I think the only real " nightmares" happen when you're living and are largely self-created... but myth and persistent afterlife superstition still writes pretty cool songs to terrify people into cosmic fatalism... where natural codes of respect fail.
It's worked for thousands of years, especially after they learned it's easier to terrify people into following specific words if you first convince them they live forever and will be punished eternally for disobedience..

Not at all.
The Egyptian Book of the Dead bears no resemblance to the Bardo Thodol.

Working under the premise that we don't go into the light or are somehow able to refuse.
What happens then?
Are there other lights, and if so, how would we know which is kosher?
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

You 'go into the light' only after you've refused. The way you do that is by not being seduced or terrified or angered into heading, instead, for one of the distractions being offered all around you amid the cacophony and disorientation of the immediate post-mortem experience. A Christian would call those distractions temptations, I suppose.
I had a friend who got his friends to help him through the whole procedure specified in the Bardo Thodol on his deathbed. Didn't ease his dying, but I suppose the effect is supposed to kick in afterwards. I wonder...

I imagine most people, Astyanax, would simply be amazed that there is something beyond what we call existence.
I mean, there is belief, and there is seeing...
I'm on the fence myself.
I'll certainly hedge my bets and hope that there is something to come after this life...
And that I'm not judged too harshly for some of the things I've done in this one.
The wonder part, i suppose, is what it's all about.

The, will you choose to enter the Light during the death transition/cross over phase? Or do you choose the Abysmal plane of the unknown?
It's a challenging spiritual dilemma, especially when considering the wrong decisions may bring you back into the Demiurge and it's Archons grasp, placing you back into a simulation or matrix made of matter and controlled by a MATTERial god.
This is why those who attach to the imperfect materialistic components of this reality do so well, they are accepting the MATTERIAL god and its Archons ways of existence within the simulation, matrix or existence outside of the Perfection found in the HEAVEN or PLEROMA.
They equate financial and material gains with being blessed by God.
Those who can see more (with their minds eyes or 3rd eyes) than the Demiurge seems willing to, know there is more to reality than what's presented or shared physically within only the 3rd dimension and or material world. As if they sense the influences of the CREATOR, GOD, MONAD or SOURCE-SPIRIT guiding them...
And so they tend to struggle as pneumatics SPIRITS-SOULS do here, why attempting to act more or being materialistic or selfish and tend not to associate materialistic gains or financial gains with blessings from God, like hylics SOULS-SPIRITS do.
The hylics are said to be made from within the material world or realities, created by the Demiurge, so 1 can understand but not excuse how they attach to only the material realities, because they do not believe there is anything metaphysical beyond it.
The Pneumatics are emanations Created by the CREATOR, GOD, MONAD or SOURCE-SPIRIT, and so are actually Alien to the Demiurge and it's Archon governors.
This is why as some gain more enlightenment, the chains of the Archons are said to fall away, freeing said spirits or souls from the material hooks that can capture and recycle them. Why others more accepting of the chains remain trapped for what seems forever.
Stay blessed

I’m not a believer, Andy. I’m just passing on what I’ve read in the Bardo Thodol, the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and heard from friends knowledgeable about the subject.
As for near-death experiences, here’s a quote from a cross-cultural study that provides some food for thought. It’s rather long, but I think it’s worth reading and contemplating in full.
Quote:NDEs remain unexplained phenomena. The question of whether or not they provide evidence of life after death continues to be debated. While the survival hypothesis of NDEs has not been accepted by the majority of the scientific community, nor have they been sufficiently explained by any comprehensive neurophysiological, psychological, or other materialist theory.
One of the most significant things about NDEs, however, is that, regardless of such particularities, those who have them almost invariably interpret them in spiritual or religious terms. Indeed, there is a great deal of cross-cultural evidence that afterlife beliefs are often grounded in NDEs (Shushan, 2018, 2025).
Both similarities and differences between cross-cultural NDE accounts have serious implications for any theory that attempts to make ontological sense of the phenomenon—and indeed can be used to support both sides of the debate. The similarities between accounts indicate that NDEs cannot be due entirely to cultural expectations. Although afterlife beliefs vary widely around the world, individuals in most if not all cultures not only experience NDEs but also attach the same afterlife-related meanings to them. The default belief cross-culturally is in the actuality of these experiences, rather than considering them dreams or hallucinations.
The apparent universality of NDEs could support arguments that they are genuine afterlife experiences. At the same time, the similarities could alternatively support a materialist hypothesis, for if human neurophysiology or cognitive processes are universal, we would expect the same kind of experience and interpretation from biologically similar brains.
Differences [between individual experiences] could be used to challenge the materialist interpretation on the grounds that individual and cultural uniqueness suggests that NDEs are not ‘all in the brain’. However, differences could be incorporated into a materialist hypothesis by positing that culture and individuality overlay the universal neurophysiological or cognitive experience. Meanwhile, precisely the same argument might be used to support the survival hypothesis: that NDEs are a genuine glimpse of an afterlife state, though one that is filtered through cultural and individual idiosyncrasies.
These dynamics have created an underlying tension in the debate over the ultimate nature of NDEs, with few researchers taking the historical and cross-cultural evidence fully into account.
Shushan, G., ‘Diversity and similarity of near-death experiences across cultures and history: implications for the survival hypothesis’. InternatIonal Review of PsychIatry , vol. xxxvii, no. 2, 95–10 (2025)
The entire paper is well worth reading, for anyone interested in the subject.
