Happy Halloween DI
#1
Let us for a day delve away from such primitive discussions that are very much prevalent on DI.
This day is for those that have fun in mind!
Any and all members that have taken the time to get festively this year, please do share what you got going on?
Specifically in regards to Halloween.
I have painted my golem outside to be a bit more frightful and fun! I did put up my chilli peppers to add a bit of light heartedness to the party. I didn't go all out this year because generally speaking I prefer to be the first with the next big holiday on the block. I know it annoys the neighbors when I do that but I haven't cared for many years and I kinda think they enjoy my shenanigans in doing so.
But this year my treats for those poor suckers that come a knocking will get....wait for it.....fucking raisins and travel toothpaste! Yup I have reached that point in my life! Hate me all you want but I will not back down.
Sadly I do have to host some hippie ass finger painting crap. I'm not going to do any of that hippie shit but the family enjoys it so by default so do I. Still not doing it myself. I will be Mr. Clean after and that will be the extent of my participation in that regard.

I have small boxes of raisins and offered them to my daughter because she and her partner are the Halloween lovers/nuts and will be doing the shelling out. Her reply to me 'We don't want to be known in the neighborhood as the house that gave out raisins." Their decorations are traditional non-scary carved pumpkins and new fangled lighted ghosts hanging from the trees.

I doubt we will get trick or treaters because our community uses the large community park to do the shelling out (a church community idea) so the kids/families have one central area to go and meet and greet and get the treats, plus it will be raining heavily and there is a roofed shelter there. My daughter said they may end up going to the park to shell out.

I've never really been a Halloween fan and will be putting up caution tape to the entrance to my side of the house.

Another way to ruin shell out for the kids, and adults too (?):

Like Andy, I'm just going to put out a bowl of treats.

My reason for doing the raisins and travel toothpaste is because when I was a young kid for many years my parents would purposely take me to this old lady's house to ensure we got.... raisins and toothpaste.
I absolutely hated that but I understand why. So I will happily be that house.
And last year I got maybe 5 or 6 trick-O-treaters. They all go to the park now and in my opinion is much safer as they have the local PD there to support and bring the fun!
I kinda wanna go to the park with my Pops and maybe get his old ass into a fire truck for a picture. I don't think that is in the cards but a man can dream!

Not much of Halloween celebrations here in Portugal, although it has grown a little in the last 10 years or so, pushed by companies trying to make some more money.

Only once did a kid knocked on hour door, the daughter of one neighbour, but living in an apartment building it's not a surprise.

Edited to add that I am at work and just saw a guy (maybe 18 years old) dressed as Gestapo officer.
PS: my office is on a ground floor on a main street and close to a school, so I have seen mostly zombies and a few witches. Smile
