I always wondered. Being of an older age, I remember in my house that Thanksgiving (American Thanks giving) there was always an air of reverence about Thanksgiving... we even went to Mass... So it always had an air of "holiday." Not that the reverence cured family dynamics (good or bad)... but still, that feeling was present in me... acknowledging my gratitude (especially in family) was the overall sense of it...
I knew many other families where it seemed more of a simple "day off" and the only thing worthy about it was football... and beer.
How is it received in Canada? Is there a great "family gathering" thing there, or is it different?
