45,000 International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) dockworkers now on strike,

Holy hell FCD!

I had forgotten about Reagan doing that!

Chaos and enlightenment in one fell swoop.

It would definitely take a confident leader to pull that off, and I think he would be the only one able to do it.

This is why unions I guess.

They threaten to cause TP shortages, get people Covid PTSD panic buying, and they get a tenative 62% pay raise rather than a 77% one. They'll resume negotiations after the elections. Just like the 2025 budget.

"Give us what we want or we'll strangle your economy during an election."

Results are results though.

Until they do this again in January, the highest tiered Longshoreman will make $63 dollars an hour by 2030 up from $39. They still need to come to an understanding on automated labor saving money to the employer.

I read an article today that of the 50,000 that went on strike, only half actually had working jobs.  The other 25,000 were getting paid to hold the positions but not to do anything.   That the International Longshoremans Union is really all mob run.  It's the Genovese crime family (one of the famous  'the five families').   Half of these longshoremen are getting massive amounts of pay to do nothing and it's causing the price of food to go up.

I have to look around and see if I can find that article again .... it was interesting.
